Personally, I think any kind of discussion on here is fine, since this is a chit-chat board. Of course I don't think things like personal unfounded attacks, or racial insults or anything like that should be brought up, simply out of respect for your fellow man.
In my opinion, if you are uncomfortable talking about something, simply ignore the thread. I suspect you are fishing for someone to say "religion." Personally, I am not uncomfortable talking about religion, I just don't think people should be all surprised when they encounter an opposing viewpoint and then claim that everyone is attacking them. Personally, angel676, I find it unfortunate that talking about religion bothers you, because I find that you bring interesting points to the discussion, ones that both sides can see, even.
But I don't think that people should be denied the opportunity to discuss what they want, unless it is banned by TJ or the moderators (which would most likely only happen if the discussion caused non-stop fighting).

I think that while some topics may make some people uncomfortable that doesn't mean they shouldn't be posted or discussed. If a topic comes up that offends you or you are simply not interested in it, it's not that hard to just go back to the original page and check out something else. The general "undiscussable" topics are sex, religion, and politics. I personally like to talk about politics and my faith, and maybe you don't. So I will read and post on those topics, and you won't. No big deal. But then again, that's just what I think. http://www.sitcomsonline.com/ubb/smile.gif

I wasn't "fishing" for someone to say
"religion". I just want to get to know
everyone, to find out their likes and
dislikes.

Some very good points here! I personally like to learn a little about each person. About likes and dislikes. That's always interesting!Especially about TV. There seems to be a very good cross section of personalities and opinions. http://www.sitcomsonline.com/ubb/biggrin.gif

Bootsy Whoosh, I will admit that I am
uncomfortable talking about religion, so
would you if people kept judging you,
judging you by your religion, putting
down your religion, pressuring you to
change your religion and saying that
your religion is wrong. I've had to
experience that! I don't like people
judging people of one of one flaw that
someone doesn't like about another person. If I see someone doing that, I
will jump in! That's just me though!

Point of fact, I am often ridiculed for my religious beliefs (or lack thereof) and am often pressured to change them. I guss I have just gotten used to it, so it's water off my back. I do have an intellecual interest in all religions, though.
But in the interest of getting to know each other....I will say one topic I tire of very quickly, and that's abortion. I just feel few things have been run into the ground more than this issue, and debate is pointless because I have NEVER seen anyone's mind changed about it. I'm yawning just thinking about a discussion on it.

I still haven't gotten use to people judging me based on my religion. You might not believe this or not, but I also
have an interest in religions. I like
to study up on religions. I have never
judged anyone or even suggest that they
change religion. In my opinion, I think
people should just except people as they
are and not treat people as if they are
better than them. I'm not saying that you
or anyone else on this board is like, I'm
still trying to get to know everyone on
this board. But, some people are like that and they should be ashamed of themselves.
