Without discussing politics please, what characters (sitcom or drama) let on about their politic preference?

Of course, there's Archie and Mike on All In The Family.

Alex Keaton of Family Ties was a Republican, with pictures of Nixon and Reagan in his room, lol.

Carlton Banks of Fresh Prince was a Republican.

The Howells of course were Republicans

William on Girlfriends has stated that he's a Republican.

And then there's Maude (liberal).

Yeah, I remember how Maude would irritate Archie when she'd mention FDR. The look on Archie's face would say it all.

Murphy Brown was a Democrat. (If you couldn't tell from the whole Dan Quayle thing, hehe)

Becker was a liberal. One of the running jokes on the show was how he hated Nixon. He mentioned Watergate quite a few times.

We know that on Will & Grace, Karen is a republican and Will and Grace of course are liberal-democrates.

Dorothy on the golden girls once mentioned that she didn't care for George Bush, but it seems like she was a republican.

Julia Sugarbaker on "Designing Women" was very liberal.

Kind of ironic how I've a Republican Conservative, yet I use Becker's name as my SN.;)

I remember Bev on Roseanne was referrered to as being a conservative Republican.

I believe Governor Gatling on "Benson" was a Democrat. In the pilot episode, his daughter is complaining about him and Benson says to her, "Are you a Republican?" ;)

Bree on Desperate Housewives is a Republican, as has been mentioned many times.

On Brothers and Sisters, almost every character has been identified one way or the other. Kitty is a Republican, whereas her mom Nora and a couple of the brothers are Democrats(and I think one is a Republican). It's a little confusing.

Howard Cunningham was a Republican, because he was not a fan of Richie campaigning for Stevenson in '56 (of course Richie was doing that to land a girl)

I also think it's funny how liberal Julia Sugarbaker was when Dixie Carter is an outspoken Republican

Beavis is a "Mexican", he'd be a Republican if they were allowed to score.

Blanche of the Golden Girls comes from a very Conservative family. She might be one. And if not her, than Big Daddy is.

I watched an episode of Becker where he's asked to speak at a High School Commencement ceremony for the Class of 2001. Becker thought he was going to at a huge ceremony. It turns out to be for a handful of troublemakers who took six years to graduate.

It's held in a classroom, and Clinton's picture is hanging on the wall, even though Bush was President. If you watch closely, Ted Danson's politics are peppered thoughout the show. I don't care as I just love the show.

The only thing that annoyed me was when Becker made the comment, "Like Republicans and other primal ingrates." To me, that was crossing the line. Why insult and alienate half your audience.

I'm sure Benson was a Democrat. Ron Harris (Barney Miller) was a Republican, as stated in the third season episode "Election".

Randy from Home Improvement must have been a Democrat because he said in a Halloween episode he's going as the scariest thing he can think of..... a Republican!

I have an episode of "That Girl" on tape where Ann is able to vote for the first time (legal age was 21 in 1968). No one's political affiliations are blatantly mentioned, but it's pretty safe to say that Lou was a Republican while Ann and Don were Democrats. Interestingly, in this episode Don says that he is very much for civil rights, but in the show's last episode, he thinks women's liberation is a complete joke.

On "Brothers & Sisters," it goes like this: Kitty, Sarah, and Tommy are Republicans (so was their father), and Justin, Kevin, and Nora are Democrats.

I want to say Randy was an Independent. I can totally see him supporting someone like Ralph Nader, but that's just my take.

Kitty and Tommy have said they are republicans; Kitty hosted a conservative-republican talk show and is dating the republican canidate for president (sen. Robert McCallister, played by Rob Lowe)--- Tommy has said that he is a republican as he mentioned he "is just like dad"...

Sarah, Nora, Kevin and Justin have all been mentioned as liberal democrates.

No, Sarah has said she is a democrate... she even makes fun of Kitty for being a republican. She has also mentioned being opposed to the war in iraq.

Randy was a child for most of the show, children aren't informed enough to have a political affiliation. More likely whichever writer wrote the joke was a democrate.

Other Shows:

Grace On Grace under fire was a democrate--- although raised in the south she voiced many opinions that democrates would have. Wade was an independant; he voted for Clinton but was not happy with that choice as he said often.

Desinging Women: Julia, Mary-Jo and Charlene were liberals; Suzanne, Allison, Carlene and BJ were Republicans. Not sure about Anthony or Bernice.

I'm talking about the later years of the series, when Randy was a teenager and became very active in various causes. Remember the episode where he was mad at Tim because Binford products because they were bad for the environment?

Randy: You're being a tyrannical fascist!!
Tim: Did he just call me a dinosaur??

I never found that believeable, most teenagers don't give a crap about anything let alone politics.

Some do - like the ones who are involved with student government and things like Rock the Vote.
