I'll have to go with the only major role I've seen him in (other than M*A*S*H). His two seasons as Mr. Nicholson on "The Doris Day Show." I liked his Larry character on the episodes of "Diff'rent Strokes" that I've seen. I haven't actually seen "Hello Larry".

Match Game, mostly because I love that show. ;) I've never really been crazy about M*A*S*H--three characters of the show were semi-regulars on Match Game, though; Loretta Swiss, Gary Burghoff, (former acting student of Charles Nelson Reilly's) and McLean. I believe McLean was one of the regulars from '81 to '82 (when the show was cancelled) replacing Richard Dawson, who left Match Game in 1978.

Here's a clip of McLean on Match Game, in one of my favorite moments of his on that show:

yes, before "M*A*S*H" he was a regular for 2 seasons on "The Doris Day show" as her boss Mr. Nicholson (he was fired from the show) also pre MASH he was a regular on a short-ved variety show that Tim Conway had; then after it he starred in an awful short-lived show on NBC called "Hello Larry"; another short-lived sitcom on NBC called "The McLean Stevenson show; a short-lived one on CBS where he played a priest (I forget the name of it) and like someone else said, he was a semiregular on "The Match Game"

i think he was a match game regular in the later years but he is great on the show anytime, there are some memorable 1974 era appearances...

he also had a daytime talk show in the mid-80's, i believe sarah purcell might have been a co-host....there was a batman cast reunion on that show around 1985

mash was ok until about 1976
