Will terorrists do this again? What will happen to the stock markerts? Will war be declared? Many people will be bankrupted! I know this is a negative post, but we all at one time, HAVE to face reality...

the terorrists are a danger to themselves and to others

911 a day to remember... I can still hear the screams of all the terrified New Yorkers and all the innocent people who where in the buildings at the time and on the planes. The World Trade Center, gone...in just 1/2 hour! This must be a dream, people say, but it's true.

I think what will happen next is that air travel will be changed as we know it. We will have to part ways with some of our liberties to ensure our protection. I think that the United States is going to make a bold and strong statement of retaliation and hopefully end terrorism in the world. The stock markets will reopen sooner rather than later, but I don't think anyone needs to worry about the economy. If there is one positive thing that came out of this tragic event, it is that our economy will get a boost. Safeguards are in place to prevent a depression - we know we are safe that route. Stock prices will go down a little bit initially as the government throws a bunch of money towards defense spending. But already foreign markets are trading the dollar heavily and devaluing it, which will help our economy at home. Also, if we do end up going to war, history has proven that war time economies in this country are very prosperous. So you don't need to worry about people going bankrupt. Unless they are stupid with their money, and I must say, the attack has nothing to do with people's idiotic spending habits.

In a time where laughter may seem inappropriate, there are some remarks I can't help chuckle about. Thanks for the laugh, coily.

As much as people like to say FDR's New Deal got us out of the Depression, it was really World War II.
The civil liberties question that coily brought up is something I have definitely thought about. I got really wound up at a discussion group last night over the issue and I was the one who brought up the ease of the internet. This was way before we heard anything about the earthlink deal. My two best friends were in France and Spain last year and it was as easy to communicate with them there then it is down the hall from them in the dorm. Very simple to communicate with someone in the Middle East.
