I have a question for anyone who may be able to help. It's sort of a stupid question.

How long can you keep refrigerated turkey bacon for it to still be in good eating? I know they add preservatives, and I always thought that turkey bacon can last a little longer in the fridge more so than pork bacon. I have some turkey bacon from about two weeks ago that I want to cook with my eggs for breakfast, and I am starving. But, I wanted to make sure before eating it. I'd hate to throw away food, but I also want to double check before getting sick or something. If it's not good, then I guess I can buy some more at the grocery store.

What is your opinion?

Is there a freshness date on it? Does it look green or smell yucky? I'm not really an expert on meat since I don't eat it. My mom always says, "When in doubt, throw it out."

Thanks for your responses, guys. I don't like how I always anticipate to buy a whole package of turkey bacon and then leave it down in the fridge with the thought of "I gotta be more motivated to cook it within that same week." Then, I forget or don't have time or something. In the past I have always left wrapped well in the freezer and then having to take the time to cut across the frozen meat for little strips of bacon. I gotta be more aware.

I had to laugh! I have deli meats in my refrigerator for many days. I sniff the stuff and feel it. Many times I've had a greasy feeling on chicken slices. I rinse it off and eat it. Didn't taste great but wasn't bad. Haven't died yet. Although when it comes to mold I do heave that out. I don't eat food fast enough and days go by and I find my bread with green spots. One day couldn;t find much white all green. Out that went.
