What's Your Pet's Name?

What (those with pets) have named their pets. How did you come up with the name?

I think the most interesting name we came up with was for a dovermen we had for 7 & 1/2 years. We named the dog, who was a female, Jodi. I remember we were trying to come up with a name for her and I joked that we could name her Jodi. My mother has a bestfriend that she's known for 25 years who is named Jodi. The name seemed to "stick" and that's what we ended up calling the dog.

Other pets:
Max (Manchester Terrier Dog) - He was already named.
Stashley (Dog) - I'm not sure if she already had that name.
Chava (Cat) - He already had that name.
Goldfish (we didn't name it)
Cuddles (Cat) We call her Cuddles because she likes to cuddle. :lol:

We have a dog named Tala Khanoum (Miss 'Goldie') in Persian. We just call her Tala. She is part retriever and ridgeback, and as the name indicates, a nice gold color.

Carol: (German Shepherd) She was already named when we got her.
Sherman: (German Shepherd) He was named after my alcoholic uncle, who was my moms brother.
Donald: (German Shepherd) He was also named after my alcoholic uncle on my moms side.
Bear: (German Shepherd) I named him Bear because when he drinks water he puts his whole face in and snaps at it like he's trying to get a fish.
Gypsy: (Yorkshire Terrier) She was already named when we got her.
Tiger: (Gray Tabby Cat) I named him Tiger because of his stripes.
Casey: (African Grey Parrot) I named her after an abbreviation of Kansas City because I couldn't think of anything, but it's spelled different, and it seemed to stick! :lol:

Glitch - (blue-grey singapurra/tabby) we got him on New Year's Eve 1999, and when the fireworks went off at midnight he pooped on tha couch :(

Jynx - (little orange tabby) dont remember how we came up with the name, but he is evil and thinks he's a dog

Ellie - (calico) she was abandoned, we got her as a rescue that was already her name (i call her elly-belly, and i have taught her to climb up & look into the mirror when i say "Elly check your make-up")

Kit - (striped orange tabby) a rescue, she likes to dance on her tippy-toes

Spooky - (pitch-black tabby) and Mina (calico) are Ellie's kittens (she was preggers when we took her in). I usually call them Poopy (I shouldn't really explain why) and BeansBeansBeans (i don't really know why).

Bandit - (Golden Retriever) another rescue, that was already his name, he seems to like it

Roxy - (Rat Terrier) robyn named her that for some reason, she originally belonged to a neighbor that couldn't keep her. I usually call her "Rat-Dog" or "Roxy-daaaancer"

OMG! Duke's adorable!

I used to have a hedgehog named Forrest (after my boyfriend of the time....when we broke up, I just said it was after Forrest Gump, so when I got my boston terrier, we named her Jenny lol)

Border Collie: Tango (my favorite dance in the performance I stage managed the weekend before I got her)

Mini Schnauzer (Tango's dog): Polka (got her after Tango, and figured I needed to keep with the dance theme)...

My students used to get a kick out of my other two pets before they died:

A reddish guinea pig I got for Xmas was named Santa

A jet black bunny was named Snowball (I like Irony)

Well, after seeing and falling in love with Pugsly, I quickly decided that the next dog I'll be getting is a pug, so hopefully I'll be getting in on a bit of that chick magnet action. :lol: ;)

By the way, I love the way a pugs mouth and nose are caved in. LOL!! It's so cute!! I always enjoyed greeting pugsly with a kiss on the nose/mouth, while he'd greet me by nearly licking me to death. :lol: They're definitely great, and loving dogs!!

Oh, you would really benefit from owning a pug. They are carefree, loving, warm and kids love them too.
When my boyfriend bought me my pug (after the dog licked me and I fell in love with him he felt he had to buy him for me) the dog was still a puppy. Our son was a year old. So basically my son and our pug are one year apart...the dog is so careful with our son, he has never harmed him or hurt him in any way. The vet says that pugs are the best dogs to have around children. Duke is like having another small child in the house. I adore Duke. He gives so much attention and yep! abt those kisses and licking. Their "smushed" up faces are just so damn cute!!!!!!!!

His name when we got him was Markus, which is a dumb name, and then my dad wanted to name him Rufus, we were like ummm no. So I start suggesting other things and we were watching Harry Potter, so my dad goes, "DUMBLEDORE!" I was like, "Uhhhh, no, how about Dobby?" and then it stuck.

I want a pug though, and I want to name him Gaston.

I wanted to name my pug STEWIE (hmmmmm, wonder why???? LOL) but I was voted against it...I then wanted OTIS, like the pug in the movie MILO AND OTIS...again, it was not liked...so since he is like the king of the house and KING wouldn't sound right, I chose DUKE.

My cat's name is Angel. I named her Angel when I first got her because she was (and still is) the cutest little thing. It's a shame I didn't wait until I knew her personality better to name her because now she has a name that doesn't fit her. She's very agressive, LOL. The irony :lol:

The only pets that I currently have are fish, mollies:

I did have many ferrets over the years, but had to put them up for adoption do to my health problems.

Dogs:
Phoebe, a full-bred dachshund
Penny, a dachshund with long legs, so I thought maybe she has some beagle in her.
Missy, I haven't exactly figured out her breed. I found her at a truckstop and she looks like a small border collie. The vet put her down as a black & white longed haired dachshund.

Cats:Baby, a black cat & Pretty Boy, a white & grey cat were both survivors of Hurricane Katrina. A bunch of found animals were brought to the SPCA in Orlando from Louisiana to be fostered until their owners were found. Neither of them were found so I adopted them.
Then there's Tigger, a grey striped tabby, that I found this past April, at another truckstop. He came right up to me. I didn't think he belonged to anybody so I picked him up, put him in my car, and took him home.
