No 1: 'Talladega Nights: The Ballad of Ricky Bobby'
Sony Pictures
Weekend Gross: $47,000,000
Weeks in Release: 1
Total Gross: $47,000,000
Will Ferrell, John C. Reilly and Adam McKay had so much fun on "Talladega Nights: The Ballad of Ricky Bobby" that they're ready for more.
According to Variety, Columbia Pictures is moving forward on "Step Brothers," a comedy written by Ferrell and McKay, directed by McKay and starring Ferrell and Reilly. Judd Apatow and Jimmy Miller will produce.
The "Talladega Nights" reunion would feature Ferrell and Reilly as stunted guys who still live with their single parents. When the parents meet, fall in love and marry, the guys become stepbrothers. Presumably there are additional complications that are yet to be revealed.
'Talladega Nights: The Ballad of Ricky Bobby' Showcard
The industry trade paper suggests that Columbia paid a premium for the script and actors and that "Step Brothers" will be budgeted at slightly less than what it cost to make "Talladega Nights," which required the NASCAR setting. Shooting could begin as soon as next summer.
