I saw the 1920's version on Sunday. It was a silent movie, of course. I was disappointed in the end. It was sad. Both the hero and the hero's "girl" died. http://www.sitcomsonline.com/ubb/frown.gif
Have any of you seen another version of the Last of the Mohicans? I know there were several. If you have, did it end the same way as the '20's version?

I have seen the recent version that was done in I think 92-93. We watched it in 8th grade and it hadn't been out long. Daniel Day-Lewis plays Hawkeye who I assume you mean when you refer to the hero. It ends with Hawkeye and his "girlfriend" looking out over the horizon after her sister commits suicide during the final fight season. I believe something his surrogate father and brother were killed, but I don't remember clearly. There's some very beautiful music in this version too. Have not seen any of the other versions, nor have read the book, so I don't know how accurate this ending was, but a very good movie anyway.
BTW-My favorite tv show is probably MASH and Alan Alda's character was nicknamed Hawkeye by his father because Last of the Mohicans was his favorite book. I love that show.

I saw the more recent one, too. It was really good. I loved the musical score from it.
