.....he eats June's cooking and he has the nerve to tell Beaver he doesn't like the way his mom cooks carrots! You don't come into one's home and diss anyone's cooking. I don't understand why beaver never punched one of his friends when they disrespected him.

This could have been one situation where Beaver would hit Larry where he had his appendix removed.

yea i saw this episode today on TVLand as well. It was just so interesting how the boys even let larry hide out. I mean, for all of the crummy things that larry has done to both beaver which has rubbed off onto wally occasionally... you would just tink that he would have been like, larry you can't hide out here! and also, why he was nice enough to give him his dinner. Beaver was always the nice kid while he got stomped all over.

This episode is also another case where we see how the 50's/60's played out with the role of a women. Larry's mother felt like she needed a man to scold him and basically asked Ward to do it and didn't even really acknowledge june... quite interesting :)

You don't come into one's home {or bathtub even :)} and diss anyone's cooking.
He was just a kid. What do you expect -- perfect etiquette from the Larrymeister?

At least Eddie respected June and Ward when he was in their presence.

In the 50's the father was the clear, undisputed disciplinarian in the family. Fathers were the head of the family, period. Not to say they couldn't discuss things, but i always remember my mother saying, wait till your father gets home. When I got in trouble with my mother, that was one thing, that it could be handled locally, just between me and her, but if it was big enough for my father to get called in, that involved real punishment. So it's pretty accurate that June and Mrs. Mondello would have wanted Ward to take care of things in Mr. Mondello's absence.

At least Eddie respected June and Ward when he was in their presence.
And Edward W. (Clark) Haskell was also a few years older than Lawrence, and was also the biggest bullshi*ter in Mayfield. Those two things make a difference as well.

Perry...your witness.... :)
