When Ralph tried to pass off the watergun as a real gun, the little boy out in the hall gives it away and then on of the Thugs takes the Water gun from Ralph and starts shooting water in his face-lol What the hell did he do that for? How did the guy go from trying to kill Ralph to shooting him with a water gun?-lol

The crooks were ticked off that Ralph tried to intimidate them with what turned out to be a squirt gun. He just gave Ralph a taste of his own medicine.

Yes, and it was a brilliant piece of comedy. The audience loved every second of George Petrie (the gangster) shooting that water in Ralph's face. It was as if they were waiting for it. Gleason's reaction to it was priceless.

I know it was only a TV show but I can't see a guy shooting water on you after you tried to scare him with a watergun. He would have been pissed which why I don't think that watergun scene was needed

Well this was one of the more serious episodes, and I think little moments like that were necessary to keep the audience laughing. It's not so unreleastic, it's like Tweety said, he was just giving Ralph a taste of his own medicine, sort of like a "You wanna be a wiseguy? I can be a wiseguy too" type of thing. After all, you didn't really expect him to kill Ralph did you?

Keep in mind that this is 1950's TV. He couldn't beat the crap out of him. It was a family show. Although Ralph always threatened to send Alice to the moon, you knew he would never lay a hand on her. The threats were expected, but people would have been shocked and outraged is he ever carried it out.
