My sister and I received a phonecall from my cousin, Myrna, that her brother, Rudy (my older cousin), and his wife, Wanda, passed away from a terrible car accident last night. :crying:
We don't know much more detail than the fact that their children, two girls (both of theirs) and a boy (her previous son), are in the hospital in critical condition. The girls are between 2-3 years old, and the boy is around 11. What a sad thing for these kids to learn they are orphans. :(
I attended their wedding in August 4, 2000 in Las Vegas, Nevada, so this is such a shock...they were one week away from their six-year anniversary!!
This is truly sad. It is also scary. This is the first time I have a cousin pass away on my maternal side of the family. I was shaking with fear, and I felt blank like a ghost earlier. Too much to absorb. Wow...
I am not a funeral person because it's too emotional and too much for me to handle, so I don't know what I am going to do when I am invited.

I want to thank you all who have posted a reply in this thread. I really appreciate you all and your reaching out. That is very kind of you. :bighug:
After I got off from work yesterday, I headed off to my aunt's house to give my sympathies. I was hesitating at first because I wanted to go today when there might be less people around. I can't handle all the strong emotions. I decided to just go anyway.
I found out through my cousin, Myrna (Rudy's older sister), that the family were just arriving home from their trip to Las Vegas, Nevada and Denver, Colorado. They were 35 miles (56 km) north to my city when the accident happened. There was a loose tire that came off a semi truck laying on the road. They were trying to dodge it when their SUV vehicle lost control. My cousin couldn't control it. The vehicle flipped over several times, and Wanda was ejected from the seat since she is a tiny woman. They were all wearing their seatbelts, and luckily the kids were belted in really, really good. The adults were pronounced dead at the scene.
My cousin and my aunt were saying just happy and excited my cousin was last week right before they went on this vacation. :(
Here's the online article:
http://www.abqjournal.com/news/state/479674nm07-29-06.htm
It's from my local sucky paper, so you will have to click on "Trial Premium Pass" and wait for about 30 seconds while the sponsored commercial plays. Then, click on "Take Me to Albuquerque Journal" to open the actual article link.
My cousin Rudy has reared eight children in total. He reared five children from a previous girlfriend, Michelle, (four are his children), and he reared three children with his current wife, Wanda (two are his children). The way I see it, it was meant for him to have ALL those kids so his genes would be passed on.
What was very heartbreaking was seeing my eight-year-old second cousin, Jade (from his previous girlfriend), sitting and bawling in the livingroom looking through her dad's photos. Ohhhhh.... I just hugged her and told her it was okay to let it out by crying since it is a human emotion. Poor baby. :(
Anyway, that was just more info and an update. I will keep you all updated, furthermore. It still feels like a nightmare because there was no actual car accident involving another vehicle. It was just a one-car accident which makes it much sadder.

I am not sure what the status is on the Jonathan's (the little boy's) father, but I am sure he will have Wanda's family helping him.
---
Oh, and another mini update I forgot to include previously - the younger girl, Raelyn, 2, is already out of the hospital but in the care of Wanda's family, but her older sister, Ariana, 4, and Jonathan, 11, are still in the hospital. Ariana's face is very swollen, from what I heard. The girls are my blood second cousins.

Holly, it is actually my cousin and his wife. Thank you for your words.
Thank you very much for your words, guys.
I want to personally thank those of you who have replied to this thread. I really appreciate those of you who have sent me your thoughts and kind words. It means a lot to me that you who have replied have shown me your thoughts.
To those of you who are following up: There will be a double funeral tomorrow morning, and I will attend it. It will not be easy for me as I can't stand all the strong emotion when I see others crying. All I can do is just be there next to them and will hug/give my support. It will be tough, but I will be there. They will also be buried next to each other at the cemetary.
