Janice, you and I have the same taste. I loved that album. My parents use to play that every year while we decorated the tree. I could just picture you out at the discoteques getting down when you were younger. lol

I love disco music. I can't name every one, or every artist, but here are some I like:
I love all of the Bee Gees' disco music. (Here I feel compelled to point out that the Bee Gees are not just a disco group; they'd been famous for nine years before they made any disco songs.)
And The Beat Goes On - The Whispers
I like Earth, Wind and Fire's songs - September, Fantasy - and I think they're kind of disco.
That's the Way (I Like It) - KC and the Sunshine Band
Play That Funky Music - Wild Cherry
Dance Dance Dance - Chic
Ain't No Stopping Us Now - McFadden and Whitehead
Boogie Nights - Heatwave
I'm Coming Out - Diana Ross
Good Times - Chic
There It Is - Shalamar
Give Me the Night - George Benson
When Smokey Sings - ABC
There are loads more. I'll think of some more later on.

Good taste, JT. Brilliant minds think alike. I actually had some of your picks just miss my top 100 when I compiled it a couple of months ago. But I have to ask you, where's my #2 choice on your list?? You can't tell me you don't love that song!! (Or #1 for that matter)

Just about all of it, really. The Bee Gees, KC & The Sunshine Band, etc. My wife loves disco, too. It's her favorite music!!

Oh, I can't believe I left off #1. I was just dancing my behind off to it on Music Choice a few days ago. That's definitely a fave.
I've never heard #2, but my god...everytime I turn on Classic Disco on Music Choice, it's going off and I get annoyed to death because I like the ten or twenty seconds of it that I hear. Classic Disco is just amazing...I try to fit in at least an hour of nonstop dancing to it to keep that heart rate up. A great channel for the well-known disco hits and a lot of the obscure stuff.
And I might be rambling on, but I have to say that I've been pretty in to Chic now for a few weeks. I have 3 of their songs on my computer and their style and tone...it's just so laid-back and smooth and I love it. "Good Times" and "I Want Your Love" are just...words cannot say how great they are.

Oh God, it would definitely be songs by KC & The Sunshine Band, Donna Summer and the one hit by Vicki Sue Robinson "Turn This Beat Around"...throw in Evelyn Champagne King as well. It is too hard to say which is my fave. DISCO RULES!!!!!!:D
The song by Santa Esmerelda "Don't Let me be misunderstood", I didn't realize back then that it was a remake. The original was done by The Animals (Eric Burdon)
Give me all the 12" versions of disco songs too...the longer the better!!!!!!

IF YOU LEAVE ME NOW and NO TELL LOVER were da bomb. After that was pure HALLMARK CARD POETRY...regardless of the fact that Peter sang lead vocals on NO TELL LOVER, the songwriting and those horrible music videos that came along after that were just sappy. No more brass section, no jazzy style tunes, just pure junk to make bad videos to.

And I agree... I didn't care for the band after "No Tell Lover." Wasn't the same as the earlier days.
I remember something about another of their hits, "Saturday in the Park" (1972). I was in typing class in the 8th grade (1974-'75) and the teacher had a record player in the classroom. She like that song so much, she kept playing over and over!

You never take advice, someday youll pay the price, I know
Ive seen it before, it happens all the time
Youre closing the door, you leave the world behind
Youre digging for gold, youre throwing away
A fortune in feelings, but someday youll pay
Youre as cold as ice, youre willing to sacrifice our love
You want paradise, but someday youll pay the price, I know
Ive seen it before, it happens all the time
Youre closing the door, you leave the world behind
Youre digging for gold, youre throwing away
A fortune in feelings, but someday youll pay
(solo)
Cold as ice - you know that you are
Cold as ice - as cold as ice to me
Cold as ice
Youre as cold as ice, cold as ice, I know, yes I know
Youre as cold as ice, cold as ice, I know, oh yes I know
Youre as cold as ice, cold as ice, I know, oh yes I know
Youre as cold as ice... (to fade)
Also Toto, HOLD THE LINE has an awesome drum beat.

My favorite 70s disco song is "Sky High" by Jigsaw.
Is that really a disco song? It doesn't sound like one to me.
I guess you wouldn't call it a "pure" disco song, but it does have some elements of disco.

That was my favorite song as a kid. I use to know all the words to it and you are right, it was played like a 100 xs a day.
You were probably one of those who called in to the radio stations and kept requesting it. :p

Wow, this thread is old!
I can think of several dozen I'd add to that list and none that I'd take off of it.
Another disco song that Karen did solo that I love is "Lovelines," which is here (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=wFo1NF1sXU4).

Lovelines was great, as was her entire solo album. JT, have you heard the unreleased songs from her solo sessions? They were leaked somehow and can be found throughout the web. Let me know!
