A whiny, conniving, dysfunctional, lying, creepy, seriously disturbed little idiot. He has not one thing going for him. He's not cute, (like Whitey) he's not smart (like Richard), he's not funny, (even like Judy Hensler, for crying out loud) He's not loyal. He only confesses when he absolutely has to.

In short, an idiot.

Agreed. Everytime I watch LITB when he is on, I think of the same thing. He's someone you would love to smack. Hit him "where he had his operation".:D

Let's not forget that he eats and eats and eats.

Larry was probaby Beaver's worst friend. It's funny, though Beaver, on the show mentioned Larry was his best friend. LOL Larry was worst than Gilbert.
For someone who was as fat as Larry, he sure ate a lot of apples.

I think Larry took his eating after his mother. She looked as if she could put away some food. Never seen his father though.

Larry and Beaver seemed to have little in common Beaver was in good shape, Larry was so fat and compulsively eating, whning and complaining about his appendix.

in the episode Her Idol, Larry made fun of him about Linda Dennison that beaver hit him in the stomach . That's not the way true friends should treat each other.

True. But the girth comes into play probably due to the "whole cake he ate on the way to class", and other such fattening foodstuffs.

I've always liked Larry thought he did good in Beaver.

I liked Larry; he's one of my favorite characters. As for dumb, basically all of Beaver's friends were! LOL! And I thought he was a cute kid, even though he was a little pudgy. Bad friend, definitely, but I think he came from a dysfunctional family (his dad always hits him and everything). I didn't like Richard or Gilbert, though--they weren't funny in the least, IMO. As for Judy, there wasn't an episode where I didn't want to punch her in the stomach. ;)

We did get to see Larry's father in one episode... I'm not sure of the episode's name, but it's the one in which Beaver is going to play a canary in the school play (I think he ends up switching parts with Whitey, who ends up playing the bird).

Anyway, after the 'show' is over, we see Larry talking to his father backstage.

But I'm pretty sure that was the only 'appearance' of Larry's father... and I don't think he has a speaking part.

I respectfully disagree with the negative opinions of Larry. IMO he was quite a bit funnier than Beaver's other friends. I feel that Rusty Stevens was an excellent child actor.

...he was the one who usually got Beaver into trouble {"C'mon, Beaver, it doesn't look that hard, let's do it!"}, and the one who usually left him there to face the consequences {"I think I hear my mother calling me..see you later, Beaver!"}. Larry is just a "normal" kid...but with HIS personality, do you think anyone would build a comedy around him called "LEAVE IT TO LARRY"?

Larry was actually my favorite of Beaver's 'best' friends. I thought he was funny in the way he delivered his lines... I thought he was a good child actor.

I liked Whitey a lot, but he and Beaver didn't do much hanging out together...they seemed to only see each other while in a group of kids.

I never liked Richard or Gilbert... of the three friends that Beaver hung out the most with (meaning spending the most one-on-one time), I liked Larry the best, easily. As I said, I would have liked Whitey to hang out more with Beaver, I thought he was hysterical, but he only hung out with Beaver when they were in a group of kids (except for the Soup Bowl episdoe, of course).

I always thought it was funny the way Larry would goad Beaver into doing something wrong simply by calling him 'chicken'...or by saying something like "I'll bet you don't even know how to drive the go-cart" "Oh yes I do" Beaver would say...

I actually liked Richard myself. I wish he could have been in more episodes. He seemed more intelligent than the rest of those losers.

I agree. I liked Richard best.
