View Full Version : Do any of your local channels show programming from the 50s, 60s, or 70s?
Do any of your local channels show any 'classic' shows, from the 50s, 60s or 70s? We only have Andy Griffith and the occasional Lucy episode. We don't have very good channels.

Sounds like you live in NYC like me. MASH also comes on at odd hours on Fox5 and Honeymooners is on the WB as well. Taxi is also on. Though not a sitcom the ABC channel has The Guns of Will Sonnet- why I really don't know.
It'll be interesting to see which of these shows sticks around in the fall. Good Times and Kotter both returned for the summer, although Kotter aired once in a while before that. Neither will have cycled through all of their episodes by Labor Day so they may make it to the fall (it seems like once a show makes it onto the fall schedule in local reruns it pretty much has a home until Memorial Day) An exception is Odd Couple which vanished off of Fox in midseason. I've been enjoying the Jeffersons now because I wouldn't be surprised if it stops airing in September.
The WB aired Addams Family and Bewitched in marathons and once in a blue moon last season so they may put those on if they still own them, and they also had the Three Stooges on for awhile.

I don't think CT has anything. WSBK has The Three Stooges from the '30s through 50s Sunday mornings. Other than that, nothing. WCTX has rightrs to many older shows, but never play them. What a waste of air space.

hey TV Land Fan what is your Local Channel that show's Cklassic Programming
We've got M*A*S*H twice a night on the UPN affil (don't know if this will change with the MyNetworkTV switchover). The NBC affil actually has licenses for Who's the Boss, Taxi, and Odd Couple, but doesn't air any of them - though two of the three will wind up getting trudged out once a year or so.

Yes, we get lots of '50s, '60s, and '70s programming here in Chicago with WWME (usually called Me-TV -- for Memorable Entertainment Television)...I stopped watching TV Land a LONG time ago, when this new station launched a couple of years ago.
The great thing about the station is that it's available over the air, through just a broadcast antenna. Plus, it's also available on the major cable and satellite stations (like Comcast, DirectTV, and Dish Network).

Me-TV's schedule changes for every season -- there's also "Spring of Me," "Winter of Me," and "Fall of Me."
"The Lucy Show" usually airs Late Night on Me-TV Monday-Friday and on Saturdays. It has also aired weekday mornings. But the network put "The Lucy Show" on hiatus for the summer...it will be returning in the fall, which is GREAT news. :)

Even though I can't stand it, "TAXI" airs here in NY, late nights, along with The Odd Couple, Jeffersons, Welcome Back Cotter, Mash and Good Times.....The Honeymooners and Three's COmpany were airing not too long ago too. They stopped airing last fall. :(
