I am with you on that one. I used to love rollercoasters, but that big drop is something you have to get past. At our Six Flags nearby, they got this ride called "The Predator", I swear the first drop is so damn long.
You should go to Universal Studios in Orlando. I been there twice, and they got movie rides that I will take over rollercoasters any day. The best ride there is "Back II the Future" You sit in a car and face a screen with pictures. The car rocks, and it looks like you are driving into the wall.

I despise roller coasters. I don't think I ever liked them. Maybe it was because I went on the Cyclone in Coney Island as a little kid and it scarred me. Who knows, but I hate them.

I was for the longest time, but two years ago on a marching band trip we went to Universal Studios. Now I had it planned out from the beggining I would stick to all the movie rides like GARFIELDKOOL said, but my friends wanted to go to the Island of Adventure (where the coasterrs are) so I decided to go. Also I was trying to impress a girl at the same time and it did work. I know that if I hadn't got on with her she would be kind of embarassed of me. So my first roller coaster I ever went on I belive might be the biggest on the East Coast. I went on the Incredible Hulk Coaster and the Dueling Dragons. I mean I was scared as anything in the line but I wouldn't let on. Now she was scared so she wanted me to hold her hand on the coaster, now if I hadn't got on I wouldn't have been in that very good situation for me-lol Now I had a great day because I beat one of my fears and I got to spend the whole day with a girl I was after for a long time. She was two grades a head of me and graduated a few weeks later and I really haven't seen much of her since, but it was still a GREAT day for me and her.
Here are the two coasters

We were there two days so we did do the movie rides the next day. We went on Jaws, Earthquake, The Mummy, Twister, and many others.

I love them, thats all I ride with I go to amusement parks, the bigger the roller coast the more fun I have. What's the use of going to amusement parks if your not gonna ride the rides.

The thing that used to piss me off was when one of my friends would actually get an attitude because I didn't want to get on the roller coaster. We defintely was about to fight inside the park-lol

I don't mind the gentler ones.
But the really fast, quite terrifying ones - I don't think I'd like to ride them.

Oh, psshht. The Predator is nothing. Superman's first drop, now THAT'S insane. The Predator just hurts, which is why I won't get on it anymore - especially after last summer, sitting in the last car with a sunburn! Also, I hate how the first drop of The Viper fakes you out... you go down that little dip, and it's fine, and then that HUGE drop just comes out of NOWHERE... Oh, and The Boomerang... going backward up that first hill is like HELL. I always feel like the bar is gonna slide off and I'm gonna fall out.
Yeah, I'm a big frequenter of Darien Lake

Roller coasters scare the heck of me but it's a fun scare. The worst part for me is the slow climb to the top before the drop.

I've seen you on the boards for a while, I didn't know you live sort of nearby to me. I used to go to Darien Lake every year, but I haven't been in almost 10 years. I hadn't been on the Superman ride, The Viper is nothing, but that damn Predator! It shakes too. I went out there when the ride was new back in 1990. The line was so long.

I'm kind of inbetween on this one. I'll ride them, they scare the heck out of me, but it can be fun. I made the mistake of riding a big one my first time though, I was scared to death! LOL! Meet the Georgia Scorcher at Six Flags over Georgia:
Introduced May 1999
Height 107 feet
Length 3,000 feet
Top Speed 54 MPH
Max G-Force 4 Gs

I remember when I was little........my family went to Euclid Beach Park in Cleveland. I really liked the racing coaster, but the flying turns ride scared me.
There are two Cedar Point coasters that I'm not sure I'd ride. The first is the Millenium, which was opened in 2000.

The first time I ever got on a roller coaster that actually looped or went upside down was when my eighth grade class went to Six Flags in St. Louis, MO. After that, my cousins and I went to the Six Flags Great America in Gurnee, IL every year after that. Since I could handle the beginners roller coater in St Louis, my cousins challenged me to ride the "Eagle". Trying to prove to them that I wasn't chicken, I gets on it. The Eagle was built of pure wood which is one of the oldest roller coasters in the country built in the early 70's, which is still in operation today. The slow climb takes about a minute before it drops. Anyway, when we took that first dip, I thought I was gonna fall out and lose my lunch at the same time:lol:. I've never been so scared in my life (that's what happens when you're always trying to impress somebody).
After that, I kept my roller coaster riding to a minimum, finding any excuse not to get on the more challenging ones. As more amusement parks replaced the simple coasters with more daring and intimidating ones, the ones that go up slow on a single track! to coming down backwards at 150 mph or to riding upside down, I avoid amusement parks altogether now. Ain't nothing amusing about riding on something like that . As my 12 year old nephew would say "Auntie, you're scared of everything". Yeah, so what!

I live right outside Syracuse, so it's a bit of a drive for me, but it's worth it in my opinion. Yeah, I've been on Superman at least ten times, but The Predator only three times - just because I hate how much it hurts. It's awful hah.
And I had no idea you lived in Rochester before yesterday - I have SO SO SO many relatives in Rochester.
I can't stand roller coasters.

I'm not, I love roller coasters. My favorite is a tie between the Hangman at Adventure Landing and the Hulk. Unfortunetely, two years ago at the end of 8th grade, all 8th graders had a field trip to Islands of Adventure as a "bye-bye middle school" treat, I had to miss out on it because I had extra credit to finish, otherwise I would've failed 8th grade :(

i hate rollercoasters, at least ones that are too extreme...like dropping down at an effing 90 degree angle and whatnot. they'd be more enjoyable if they didn't throw you around so much or make me sick.

I LOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOVE ROLLER COASTERS. I just went to Valleyfair (http://www.valleyfair.com/) earlier this week with a friend, and I had SO MUCH FUN! They only have one hypercoaster, Wild Thing -- I don't remember where I read this, but when it was introduced to Valleyfair in 1996, it was the 5th tallest rollerocaster in the US(? I think?). It's not now, but it's pretty tall - the first hill is 207 feet tall. I LOVE THAT HILL. You have such a pretty view of Valleyfair on your way up that hill.
http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v56/PZelda/DSCN4519.jpg
It's too bad Valleyfair is the closest amusement park...I've only ever been to three of them in my life, and the other two were a long time ago (Disney World in 1990 and Six Flags Elitch Gardens in 1997).
I want to try more wild rollercoasters!!!!!!! Bring it on!!!!!!
