Woman Smitten With Cop, Calls 911 For Date
Lorna Dudash was charged with misusing the emergency dispatch system after calling 911 to find out a cute cop's name.
Lorna Jeanne Dudash was looking for love, but it might have been the wrong place to launch a search. The Oregon woman thought the cops who came by her house to investigate a neighbor's complaint were awfully cute, so she called 911 to try to track them down.
"I don't have an emergency," Dudash said to the 911 dispatcher. "Two police officers just left my house just now. Can I get their names please?"
After silence from the 911 dispatcher, Dudash continued " Honey, I'm just going to be honest with you, OK? I just thought he was cute. I'm 45 years old and I'd like to meet him again. And I don't know how to go about doing it without calling 911."
Dudash went on to say "I know this is not absolutely in any way, shape of form an emergency but if you would give the officers my number and ask him to come back other than I know they have terrible lots of things to do in Aloha..um, would you mind?"
"I'll give him the message to call you," the dispatcher responded. Dudash, who says she's never been married, was charged with misusing the emergency dispatch system.
"I never really gave it any actual real thought," Dudash said responding to the charges. "If I had, I wouldn't have done it."
Dudash said she would have expected a "slap on the hand," but she also seems to recognize why she has been charged, saying, "I can understand where it's coming from because, sure what if there was an emergency up the street, and those police officers were needed. I do understand that."
