Any early favorites?

I watched it! I don't know if I have a favorite yet...I like the one who designed the white coffee filter dress and the one who owns the pagent shop I think so far. Vincent kinda scares me (especially with that hat lol!), and I'm not a fan of the one who had his model through the feathers when she entered the runway...he's kinda too full of himself. That's just me, though.

I did love the coffee filter dress and was very surprised when it didn't make the top 3 designs. My early favorite is the Barbie guy and I think Michael (coffee filter dress) will be the designer to really emerge as one of the best.

Vincent is definitely stubborn but Angela C'MON, she didn't even design anything to show Tara. I am shocked she wasn't eliminated. But I guess designing something ugly (Malan) is worse than designing nothing at all and just bitching about the dress she did "make". So I remain on Vincent's side with a few reservations.

OMG! Angela's outfit last night was hideous! She should have gone!!! That skirt thing is the exact same thing she had on except w/garish flowers and a tackier color!!
I loved Uli's dress! I thought it was very cute (as was her dog lol)
Any speculation on what it is that gets someone eliminated next week?

I'm pretty sure that Keith will be eliminated next week because of his alleged plagarism in his portfolio he brought to his PR audition. The story leaked a couple weeks ago, I think it's true.

Hey, guys :D
I just started watching this show and I'm already addicted to it  I caught episode 4 last night and am currently catching up with the other 3 on youtube.com.
Anyway, I have a few favorites. First of all, I really liked Malan, as crazy and pretentious as he was  He was weird and I somehow liked that. I am sorry he's gone.
Other favorites I like: Kayne, Michael, Allison, and Laura. I am rooting for any one of those people to win :)

Michael still impresses me...I like Kayne, but he can be a little annoying...his designs are decent. I like Uli a lot, too...
Do you guys think Keith deserved to leave? I think so, but I read an article where he was saying it was unfair....I mean, he did break the rules, but in Season 1 when Kara San broke the rules w/her shoes, she wasn't kicked out....she just couldn't use them.

Uli has some FABULOUS designs. I actually think she's the most talented from a technical standpoint (although that just might be my own personal taste). I forgot to mention her in my original post.
Hmm, as far as Keith leaving...well, I thought he was rather arrogant anyway and I'm not sad that he's gone. I think maybe Keith had one too many rule infractions upon him (the sneaking off premises and using the internet too....might've just been the icing on the cake along with the pattern books). Good question, though :)

I forgot about that. I don't think Kara Saun should have gone though because it seemed like it was an issue she could rectify. She sort of could back up what she did because she thought there was a loophole. And the shoes were simple, they could just be left out, what Keith read in those books went into his outfits. And yes I do think Keith deserved to leave he broke the rules and he didn't seem to care.

I guess you're right...his attitude about breaking multiple rules was just so annoying!
How about tonight's fight between tatoo man (Jeff is it?) and Angela? I'm sorry, but Angela's continuing to drive me nuts w/those little puffy flower things...
But way to go Michael! I'm hoping for him to go all the way....Uli, Kane, and Allison would make me happy, too!

I really liked Angela's dress and I agree that it is a timeless look. Michael really deserved his win, loved his outfit. Bradley, Robert, and Jeffrey's outfits were all disappointments to me. Laura continues to be my favorite, I just love her design aesthetic.

As far as the challenge, I LOVEDDDDD Kanye's Marilyn Monroe goth outfit. That was just gorgeous! I also loved Angela's outfit and would wear it myself!
What did you guys think of the most recent challenge (the one with the garbage?) I personally thought Jeff's outfit was the best (although I don't like him at all as a person). I just liked the blue and yellow together, as well as the way it flounced. It was pretty :)

Well, though I LOVE Michael, and I'm hoping for him to go all the way, I do agree...Jeff should have won this challange...his dress was great.

I agree about what you said regarding Alison. I thought she made a big mistake with her dress, but that was the only outfit thus far that I disliked. All of her stuff prior to that dress was cute, fun, and beautiful. I thought the judging may have been a little harsh.
Regarding Vincent: I am in the minority, but I think that guy is so funny! He's absolutely crazy. However, all of his designs have been pretty atrocious so far (well, the outfit for the beauty pagent wasn't too bad...it just had to lose those wings on the shoulders). They are definitely keeping him around for the entertainment factor, although I think he'll be out soon :)

Wow... sometimes I totally do not understand what goes on in the heads of the judges. I hope I am not the only one who thought Vincent's dress was hideous with that huge collar, very unflattering on Uli's mother IMO.

I liked Uli and Michael's (and not just because I'm hoping for them to win :) ). I didn't get Vincent's either...I thought it made Heidi look lumpy, and the color was too close to her skin color, so I thought it washed her out.
When I first watched the episode, I was a little mad at Jeffrey for the fight with Angela, but when I re-watched it, I kinda think she may have been in the wrong initially. It seemed to me that she wasn't really giving him a lot of ideas...only two colors that really don't work well together. He even made a comment that my roomate took as mean, but in re-thinking it, sounded like he was trying to be nice....He said something about maybe some people are trying to find something beautiful in yourself you may not see....I don't know....I mean, she seems to have really low self-esteem to the point where she would get upset about something easily....maybe she really wasn't emotionally stable enough for the competition? And part of it could have been for play to try to get out a talented designer to help out her hopeless daughter? That being said, yes, he can be a jerk sometimes, and his dress was pretty bad.

Yeah, Vincent's dress definitely looked nice on Uli's mom. I wouldn't wear the dress myself per se, but the outfit looked classy and sophisticated on her and would look good on a number of other women. I was quite surprised that Vincent made such a nice dress. I mean, I think Vincent has a real problem staying focused--his stuff is way too over-the-top. I think if he kept his designs toned down (like Uli's Mom's dress), then he'd fare a little better in the competitions.
Oh yes, Jeffrey was such an ass! I really dislike that guy. Before I really didn't know WHY I hated him but now it's becoming quite clear--the guy is just an arrogant *****. Honestly, he really needs to listen to his customers instead of focusing on how 'misunderstood' and 'rock star' he is. A big part of making it in the fashion world is not only being creative and individualistic, but appeasing to your customer as well. I hated the way he treated Angela's mom--if anyone talked to my Mom like that, they best watch out! I think Angela should've layed him out a little more than she did, IMO. Just my two cents :)
p.s. I definitely liked the 'design for a past icon' challenge the best (as well as the dog challenge). They were both really fun to watch :D

I agree--Jeffrey needs to go home! I am rooting for Laura, Michael, and Kayne for the top 3, but will definitely be HAPPY if Uli makes it instead of one of my picks. I've always loved her style, but I just have a feeling she doesn't cause enough drama on the show in order for her to make it to the end. I heard rumors that they always keep around someone who will cause fights, even if they aren't necessarily good. I wonder if that person will be Vincent or if they've already had their fill on Angela? I am not sad to see her gone.
Kayne is my absolute favorite, though--even though he did make a tacky garment in the garbage challenge, everything else he's done has been spectacular (especially the Marilyn dress, OMG!) and he's just really funny.

I really think Jeffrey won the couture challenge because his model Marilinda really sold the gown on the runway... she definitely worked it and it did look great. I also loved Kayne's gown... the bottom simply glided across the runway. Uli's gown was classy, as always. I was worried that Michael would be in the bottom two, so I'm glad he made it through. Laura's gown was old hat... it really did look obsolete, like something in an YSL show two decades ago. And Vincent's dress was really blah and the bottom half looked like the covering on a sofa in a seedy Vegas night club!

Interestingly enough, if you read Tim's blog (http://www.bravotv.com/blog/timstake/2006/09/couture_du_jour.php), he does mention that in Paris at the fabric stores, they mix furniture apholstry with their dress making fabrics. So it is possible that Vincent used a sofa covering on his skirt  Leave it to Vincent to make that kind of mistake.

I think Uli has talent, but her and Laura rarely step out of their comfort zones. Michael is by far the best designer. Jeffrey is talented also, and I'm not really a fan of his aesthetic and he also is an ass. Kayne has gotten pretty tacky and I'm not really a fan of his.

I have to agree. I never really liked Kayne, and I am not sure how he got on the show. Uli needs to expand her horizons a little bit. But I think she can do it, so I am still in her corner. Michael is by far my favorite also, though.

Once again, great episode last night. I was afraid for a bit that PR might have been "jumping the shark" by bringing Angela and Vincent back, but once I knew that they could only stay if they won the challenge, I was VERY relieved :)
I thought Michael should have won this one, Laura's dress just looked dowdy with the lace (I'm probably alone here). But Michael is going to win the whole thing. FINALLY the judges see through Jeffrey's rock and roll schtick. And as soon as I heard Uli mention a party dress "for the beach", I knew she was in trouble with the judges again for making the same type of outfit almost every challenge.
Atleast Angela got the chance to make one more horrendous outfit that was "her" style.

I am soooo sad that Kayne is gone :crying: He was definitely my favorite and I liked his stuff (well, the only things I really DIDN'T like was the 'jet-setter' outfit and the one he did for the garbage challenge). Still, I definitely wouldn't be upset if Michael won--he deserves to be there.
And I was soooo shocked that they brought back Vincent and Angela! I was like, wtf? I seriously thought they were designing for the Olsen twins by the way the previews sounded. Pretty sneaky, Project Runway
It's getting so close to the end now! In about two weeks, I'll be setting up a poll so we can cast our votes as to who we think will win the final challenge! :happyface

So, for what it's worth, here's my take on last night...
I'm sad Kayne's gone...I liked him...a lot of his clothes they were WAY too harsh on...but he'll probably have a VERY successful career designing for pagent wear and maybe costumes! I wish him good luck!
I personally didn't like Laura's dress...I actually liked the lace, but I didn't like the cut...I thought it looked silly on her model...
Vincent and Angela...um...:smash: I mean....wow...they should have let Alison back on since they threw her away so early, and at least she has real talent (IMO)...
I'm glad they're starting to see through Jeffrey...I still perfer him over Laura, though, 'cause though his stuff tends to be "rock n' rool," at least every outfit doesn't look the EXACT same (like Laura's)...I like Uli still, though....yeah, she has a very consisten design esthetic, but it's innovative...
But, Michael deserves to win...he stretches himself and explores different styles regularly...I'm scared, though, 'cause the previews make it look like it's not all good for him!

I liked Laura's dress. I loved how the black and white looked together and it was an interesting cut. She took a risk and it paid off. Michael's dress was also quite nice as always. I was not happy to see Vincent and Angela back, but since they left it really wasn't an issue. I'm not that sad to see Kayne go. He had talent and made some good dresses, but his taste really isn't there. This is defintely a very talented final four. Michael is defintely in. I'd assume Jeffrey is in also since he makes good TV and has a unique rock and roll aesthetic. It's really a toss up between Uli and Laura now.

On the basis of what makes good television, I guess Michael (because he actually deserves it), then Jeffrey and Laura because that's wherein the most conflict would lie...Uli's too laid back to fight Jeffrey, and Uli and Laura would just be this perpetual gag-me love fest...

AGREED!!! Kayne was my absolute fav. [well, him and Keith lol] so I was mad when he got auf'd... I saw it coming though :(. He makes amazing clothes though- especially gowns. UGH Uli does the same thing all the time and its frustrating. The only one who really changes it each time is Michael.
And LOl! I thought they were designing for the Olsens too!! Hahaha.

Yeah, what happened to that Olsens rumor? I heard the same thing, and when I saw the episode and saw the surprise guests I was really disappointed! And what made it even worse is that they didn't even create anything that meritted them being back on the show!

I think the rumors came from Laura said something about designing for The Olsen Twins. Mainly because the dress was a party/cocktail dress and the judges felt her previous designs were becoming repetitive and too old.

No it wasn't your tv, no new episode this week. The Fashion Week show was taped this week so maybe that is the reason.

Great episode tonight....I didn't really dislike Michael's, but it wasn't his best work....Uli did a great job! I actually rather enjoyed Jeffrey's other than the odd puff at the bottom of the skirt...it was just too different from his normal stuff, but I think it showed range. Then, there was Laura....ah geez! I mean, how many of the exact same dress can she seriously design?

Laura's designs are quite similar, but for the most part they are so well made. I really am thrilled that all four are going (have gone) to Olympus fashion week. I can't wait!

Once again, fantastic episode last night. A few things:
Jeffrey: Maybe I suffer from bad taste but I did like his dress and his photograph, except for that wierd balloon hem and the sewing was strange. Spoiler AlertIt should be interesting to see if Laura's accusation of him paying someone else to sew his clothes for his final collection is true.
Laura: Love Tim "DON'T BORE NINA," and guess what? she did! Haven't we seen this dress from her the previous episode? And those plunging neck lines are not flattering on anyone who doesn't have any cleavage to show off.
Uli: Liked this one the best, but it wasn't as much of a departure from every other one of her dresses that the judges claimed it was. And I didn't like how she took Michael's model away, but Nazri does seem like this season's "lucky model."
Michael: Really big disappointment for me. And I do not know why he would pick the model that he did, she just doesn't fit his aesthetic.
Finally, was I the only person who thought this episode was a bit of a trap for Jeffrey, Uli, and Laura? The judges complained about Jeffrey always designing for rock stars. Last night, the judges complain that he DIDN'T design for a rock star. ugh, get it together judges.

I think I agree...I mean, they wanted the designers to express a point of view, but they don't want to see the same stuff over and over, so what were the supposed to do?

Totally! I really didn't understand that. I mean, what could they have done?
I'll have to admit, I really liked Jeffrey's dress too (and I really, really don't like Jeffrey  ) Uli's dress was fabulous too--if I had a figure I'd be wearing that dress. I actually thought Laura's dress was really pretty, but yeah, it was pretty much the same thing she's already done. I like the color and fabric of Michael's dress, but the fit was very unflattering to his model (and I didn't like how her whole chest was exposed). Still, I think his ultimate downfall was that he tried too hard to please the judges.
Anyway, I am sooo glad to see them all there, regardless. I'd like to see all their different styles come down the runway! :)
