So, what did everyone think of the show? I thought it was really funny. It has potential but CBS usually cancels good shows. Don't ask me why.

Yeah, it was very funny, though I would like to see a show on gays that didn't rely so much on stereotypes. Still, as a gay man myself, I have come in contact with lots of homosexuals who fit the bill.
And yes, CBS does cancel a lot of good shows, unfortunately. One of the better shows that they canned (which was one of my faves) was during the 1994-1995 season "The 5 Mrs. Buchanans". It was a woman's show (surprise! surprise! LOL!) focusing on four sisters-in-law matching wits with their antagonistic mother-in-law. It had a slow start but was a great show nonetheless, much in the spirit of "The Golden Girls" and "Designing Women". Trivia: CBS tried to cancel "Designing Women" originally, until the show's fans demanded that it stay on the air. Guess the network lacks common sense.
Another neat show they cancelled was "City", the series that starred Valerie Harper after she won her court case against Lorimar. It was by no means as good as "Valerie", but it had its strong points, and it reminded me a lot of "The Mary Tyler Moore" show. Ironically, the show also starred Danny Ponce's sister, Lu Ann Ponce, as Valerie's daughter, and the show aired opposite "The Hogan Family" on Monday nights. And Val's character was a widow whose husband, Michael, had died, just as Michael Hogan, on "Valerie/The Hogan Family" was a widower when Val died. Valerie said at the time that this was all coincidental. Eerie, eh?
In any case, let's hope CBS does treat the show well. They don't have a great track record, but hey, if gorgeous Jason Bateman can star as a gay man in a new sitcom, then anything's possible!!!! http://www.sitcomsonline.com/ubb/smile.gif
Keep your fingers crossed folks...

I really enjoyed it as well.. its good to have him back on television. Lets hope this one stays around so we can get past the introduction episode. You always have to get to know the characters and stuff. http://www.sitcomsonline.com/ubb/smile.gif
I agree with Ed, keep your fingers crossed!!

It was much better than I thought it was going to be, which is a relief...

I agree, Cokies. I didn't think it would be too good. The name fooled me, I think. I actually read an article in my TV Guide and Jason said he was going to call CBS president Les Moonves and ask to change the name, which he thinks is horrible. He had a few suggestions but never called. He figured it'd be a waste of time.

Well, the ratings are in and it didn't do so well but that doesn't mean it'll be leaving soon. It's just not a good sign. The rating was a 5.4/8. It placed 4th to 'The Mole', 'Ed' and 'That 70's Show'. Next week, I think it's up against Millionaire! Now that is really not a good sign!

Anyone see the second episode? I thought it was pretty funny. What I liked most was that it failed to be predictable. I expected that Frankie would eventually come around and try to convince his pals that Warren is gay and that there's nothing wrong with it. It didn't happen. I also expected one of the pals, Nickie, to admit his homosexuality. Again, it didn't happen. Instead the issue was left unresolved, much like in real life (trust me, this issue never gets resolved with some people!). Bravo to this show for already failing to be predictable, and it's only its 2nd episode. It seems Jason chose right by doing this show. http://www.sitcomsonline.com/ubb/smile.gif
And Jason, if you read these posts, tell Warren that Terry is no big deal. There's a guy named Ed who would LOVE to put Terry out of his mind (ahem!). Come to papa Warren! LOL!
Take care folks!

Yeah, I saw the second episode, too. I thought last week's was funnier but still it's a really good show. The funniest and best all around new show this season, in my opinion--but that's not saying much, I guess seeing that this seasons shows were all horrible! http://www.sitcomsonline.com/ubb/biggrin.gif
Keep on watching everyone!

I'm sorry to say I DON'T have very good news on Some of My Best Friends. The show has been taken off the lineup for now. JAG replaced it tonight but I didn't think anything of it--until I went to CBS.com. On there, they still have the show listed but it only says it's on Wednesdays--no time given. That is the EXACT same thing that happened to Welcome To New York BEFORE it was canceled! All I'm saying is with in the next week or two, don't be surprised if the show is gone. The show doesn't do great ratings at all either which doesn't help. As I said before, CBS...the network for dumping funny shows! Why don't they try shifting their lineup a bit?! It could save a few shows here and there.

Personaly i don't have anything good to say about the show. It has to do with my beliefs so i'll just leave it at that.

Now I have good news for fans of the show. It's back on the lineup. For how long, I don't know. I didn't mean to scare anyone with my previous comments of it being canceled. Just CBS playing with my head I guess!

Now it's back OFF the schedule for the time being. Everybody Loves Raymond all of a sudden replaced it. Not a good sign but I'm keeping my mouth shut though this time.lol
