I hate Nickelodeon.

Sorry, but I'm just fed up. No this ISN'T about N@N taking off FOL for the summer. This is about the utter decline in Nickelodeon's quality.
For the last hour or so, I've been looking up old classic Nick shows. These included ones I watched when I was younger, such as Salute Your Shorts, Hey Dude, Welcome Freshmen, Pete and Pete, etc, etc. I remembered how I loved these shows, saw every episode by chance. These are the only shows I can say I "grew up with". They are the ones that remind me of being a kid.

I really hate that my little sisters are "stuck" with Rugrats and The Wild Thornberrys. Even Nick's live-action shows are painfully NOT FUNNY. Nickelodeon simply turned into The Disney Channel. And wasn't Nickelodeon supposed to be a Disney alternative. You know, it was "cool" to watch Nick. Nickelodeon used to be a risk-taker, taking chances on odd-shows, that ended up being GREAT. But now it's all the same. Pity.

Instead of "I Want My MTV"( well, I DO want my OLD MTV as well), "I Want my old Nick!"

Sorry about my raving. It really isn't raving, but it me longing for my childhood. You don't have to reply or anything. I mean, you can... Anyway, I just had to get this off my mind.

Yeah, ok, Rugrats was a good cartoon years ago. You know, when Nick DID NOT show it 24/7. But now, I can compare Nick to Disney Channel. They are basically the same channel. Nick used to be the channel to watch over Disney ANYTIME. It's just not like that anymore.

I can't just move on. Why do you think someone came up with the idea of N@N? Because adults wanted to see classic shows that they grew up with. I'm not saying we should see all these shows on N@N. I simply think that Nickelodeon can set aside Hey Arnold, and Rocket Power, to show some old gems.

My sisters don't know any better, because they don't have better. So I doubt they will care about The Wild Thornberry's much ten years from now...

I haven't watched Nick during the day since probably 94, but I loved all those shows you mentioned Cokies. Hey Dude is my favorite. No question about that!

I remember the ads when Nick began to introduce it's own cartoons instead of the Looney Toons they always used to show. It was August of the early 90s (don't ask me how I remember it was August) and after Rugrats, Doug, and Ren & Stimply were introduced the network began to change into what it is today. And I slowly stopped watching it as my favorite shows began to end, and I couldn't go to high school saying that I still watched Nick either! In my opinion the old shows were ten times better. The game shows were pretty good too.

I do too remember when Nick started their own cartoons. At first I thought they were alright. Ren and Stimpy was sort of the Beavis and Butt-Head of Nickelodeon. But how soon they change. It's funny you say it wasn't cool going into high school, and saying you didn't watch Nick.
Now, say in class, if anyone says they haven't heard of Welcome Freshman, Hey Dude, or Salute Your Shorts, etc, everyone turns in their seats and yells, "What?!? Were you deprived of cable at a young age?"
It's pretty funny...

Wouldn't it be great if Nick created another channel with just the classic programs that were on during the 80's and early 90s? It could be called Classic Nick or something.

The webmaster's right in saying Hey Dude was the greatest live-action show Nick ever produced. Bar None! Of course Salute Your Shorts, Pete and Pete, and the early days of Are You Afraid of the Dark? are among the top five. Gosh, but there are so many others I enjoyed, way too many to list...

I don't exactly hate Nickelodeon. I don't think the quality of shows now are as good as when I was a kid watching Nickelodeon. But I still think they got good shows on. They are the number one network for kids.

I'd have to say that, out of all the available kids channels, Nick is definately my favorite. Obviously I can't comment on the shows currently airing on Nick in the States but on Nick UK the balance between cartoons and live-actions shows is pretty even.
The only thing I seriously dislike about Nick is the fact that 'Sabrina' gets top priority over every other show! Whenever there's a holiday (like when the schools are out) and I get the day off work I wanna see Amanda, not bloody Sabrina morning, noon and night! And I also hate the way they only put 'Invader Zim' on at weekends, first thing in the morning, when I'm still asleep!

I really wish they would show the old seasons of All That. The new season flatout SUCKS. They fired the old cast and got sum other kids. And the sketches are lame and unfunny. And the musical guest aint a "surprise" no more cuz theyre all over the episode. I think its gonna get cancelled

I remember when DOug, Rugrats, & Ren & Stimpy were new & they came on Sunday mornings. It was the summer before I went to kindergarten (ugh) I MISS OLD NICK A LOT! I watched it when I was real little & loved it except for The Elephant Show! I like the theme song tho..Double Dare & Finder's Keepers is on NIckGAS a lot & I was happy 2 get that channel...Reminds me of my childhood (takes a moment to reminese, sp?) When I was 3 or 4, I played Finders Keepers in the bathroom...Mom wasn't too happy..! :lol:

I agree with about all that. I saw the new one last week and it just sucked. It's not funny anymore. I missed the old skits like Super Dude and The lemonade stand girl, and the Good Burger.

Nick totally sucks now. There is no variety at all. The only thing the network plays anymore are just cartoons all day long. It is very lame if you ask me. The old Nick was so much better! It had plenty to offer from teen shows to variety shows to nicktoons to game shows, ect. Those were the days . . . .

i love caitlin's way though. that's the only good show they have-well, besides spongebob. but, i looove caitlin's way. everything else...is...blah. i kinda did grow up watching rugrats and all. but, nick is so not nick anymore. i miss clarissa and kenan and kel and everything. all that was funny but now they have a bunch of like 12 and 13 year olds (no offense....) and it's so not funny anymore. i mean, "harry blader..." i don't even watch snick anymore. i remeber the orange couch and everything they'd do on snick nights.

"Ancient times?" Hey, we're talking about shows that were in production or in reruns no more than three years ago!

You may like Nickelodeon, but I still think it's lame compared to the way it used to be.

All this new crap really really sucks! The only thing I'll be caught watching on there is As Told By Ginger, The Amanda Show, Kenan and Kel, and Taina. If you noticed, they are shows that could've easily fit into Nick's old schedule.

I think Nickelodeon and Nick At Nite, as a whole, is going bad! On N@N we got The Cosby Show that ended in 1992. We have Cheers which ended in 1993. In the coming months we're gonna have Coach which ended in 1997!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I think any show that I, a 12 year old, can remember seeing on the Preview Channel in first run should not be on NAN. They plan on getting Sabrina, the Teenage Witch in 2004. I still watch that show every week!!!!!!!!! The show'll probably still be on when NAN gets it. What we can do for N@N is simply bring in shows from the 80s. All the best calssic TV is going to TVLand. NAN should just give Three's Company to TVLand and give Family Ties to TBS. They could have The Cosby Show and Cheers be the first shows on the lineup BUT they should not repeat them until an hour after midnight. They could fill in the slots between them with The Facts of Life, Diff'rent Strokes, Silver Spoons, Gimme a Break!, Kate & Allie, and other gems that are hardly ever seen.

And we have Nickelodeon. Honestly folks, I was born in 1990 and I remember seeing Hey Dude, Salute Your Shorts, Clarissa, etc. mostly in reruns up till aorund 1999. I remember the days when I stayed inside on Saturdays to watch What Would You Do? and Nick Arcade. I remember the older Snick with Rugrats, followed by Ren & Stimpy, followed by Alex Mack, followed by Are You Afraid of the Dark?. Now what they can do on Nick is have a thing from June 1st to September 1st in which instead of Nick Jr. they can show classic Nick shows.

Nickelodeon is the beeeeeeeest, well IMO. Cause the shows they have on now are w/ people my age so it interests me! You other ppl are teens and may not like it and I understand. Disney could be better w/o zoog disney too.

I LOVE NICKELODEON! Who could ask for more? Ya got "HEy Arnold" and "Sponge Bob" two of the ultimate greatest bestest cartoons on television! Then you got "As told by Giner" which is the greatest new show on there, usually i''m pretty picky and don't get into the brand new shows (I hate "But Ugly Martions") but "As told by Ginger" rocks!

HOw can you Hate Nick? NICK ROCKS! I watch it all the time, when nothing else is on TV... Nick is there....

Hey, I used to feel exactly the way you do. Nick WAS always there. In it's prime, it was probably the best thing any kid could watch. Heck, I could watch it now, and it could be the best stuff on television. But it's not. Because it's not the same.

Who would wanna watch "Spongebob Squarepants"? That is such a lame cartoon in my opinion. I can't believe they have merchandise of it already. Yuck! Rugrats, I have to say is Nick's best cartoon ever and is 100 times & plus better than Spongebob.

Ancient times? I think not. It wasn't that long ago. And yes it is a reason to hate it. They take off all the good shows and put this crap on. All I see when I turn on Nickelodeon is either Rocket Power, Rugrats or Spongebob. Don't get me wrong, I love Spongie, but that nasaly voice gets quite annoying. My friend gets Noggin and occasionally they show "The Secret World of Alex Mack" (Awesome show) but thats about it. I MISS THOSE SHOWS!!! Salute Your Shorts, Clarissa Explains it All, Alex Mack, Rocco's Modern Life, Ren and Stimpy, Legends of the Hidden Temple (that was the best), Are You Afraid of the Dark, Pete and Pete, Weinerville, the OLD All That (all the ones with Kenan and Kell and the ones before that) and Hey Dude were AWESOME!!


Now...on the Nickeodeon now.... Butt Ugly Martians sucks. Chalk Zone is awful. Ginger is cool. Rocket Power is okay every once in a while. Zim is annoying. Fairly Odd Parents is pretty cool. Rugrats is boring. Caitlins Way totally sucks. Hey Arnold is pretty cool. The Amanda Show is just plain bad. CatDog is stupid. Doug is the best, but it's only on in the morning and I don't even think it's on then anymore.

So....IMO...NICK SUCKS! (now)

well i never had cable until 2 years ago. I never knew the old Nick but i'll tell you this I HATE THE CURRENT ONE!!!!
The only show I like is As Told By Ginger! Otherwise I believe they are quite annoying!!!
So, I have No idea about the old shows but obviously you guys miss them.

As for Disney--- Like I said I am new to cable. So, I don't know the non Zoog Days! But i do really like the disney Channel! Lizzie Miguire, Even Stevens, BOY MEETS WORLD they all rock! But i have to admit besides Boy Meets World I get SICK OF THEM! Many of the movies SUCK!!! AND THE DANG ZOOG COMMERICAL THINGYS ARE TOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO repitive!!
