OK, now you're finally comparing apples to apples http://www.sitcomsonline.com/ubb/smile.gif
If you are judging in the beginning of the bands' careers, I'd have to say Metallica. They were edgier and a little less angry than Megadeth. But around the same time that Megadeth came into their own, Metallica was selling out to the MTV crowd. I'd have to say that this is a hard one, because Megadeth was never as good of a band as Metallica, but they gain some major points in my book by remaining truer to their style (Countdown to Extinction is a very commercial album, but does not sell out to the extent of the Black Album....).
I don't know why I bother with this one... Only true metal fans know of early Metallica and Megadeth....

Fear of living on
Natives getting restless now
Mutiny in the air
Got some death to do
Mirror stares back hard
Kill, its such a friendly word
Seems the only way
For reaching out again

coily2, ye of little faith. I know about early Metallica and Megadeth.
And I agree with you, couldn't have said it better myself. Metallica always was a better band, but I respect Megadeth more for not selling out.
Plus I have always liked Dave Mustaine. I saw Megadeth in concert once and it was a blast.

Alas, there were a few people on this board who were exceptions to that statement. I had a feeling that you were one of them http://www.sitcomsonline.com/ubb/wink.gif
I have never seen Megadeth, but I have seen Metallica 11 times. Even after they sold out, they were a good live band.
