FRIED SPAGHETTI
What to do with leftover spaghetti? This is a delicious solution.
Saute a couple of cloves of crushed garlic in 1-2 tbsps. olive oil. Add leftover spaghetti and stir until heated through.

Add steamed vegetables of choice, such as slivered zucchini, slivered or sliced carrots, broccoli flowerettes, tomato wedges, peas, italian green beans, sliced mushrooms, sliced red & green sweet peppers, black olives, whatever is available. Toss until well blended. Season with a bit of salt and freshly grated black pepper. Sprinkle with Parmesan cheese. Garnish with fresh parsley and a few black olives. Serve with escarole soup, tossed salad and fresh crusty bread. Abundanza!!!

WHAT IS SO YUCKY ABT THIS???? I do this all the time. DEEELICIOUS.

I think it's great that we bastardize other countries food like this. But yeah. I've had it. Hell, I'm southern, I"ll eat anything!

Heck, yeah, I've had it many times. It's simple to cook and you can add what you like. If people feel it's unhealthy, just add some veggies or have a green salad on the side. That's it!

I do love spaghetti, but I've never had it fried before. I loved baked spaghetti, so I'm sure it probably is delicious fried as well.. :)

If it's pasta, I'm in. I love fried raviolis. Brown them in oil, drain and top with a little butter, fresh parsley and grated cheese. :happyface

i think the term FRIED is throwing people off. You aren't really frying it (like fried chicken) it's more like "warming it up" in a fry pan with a little bit of olive oil.

Considering Solomon saw fried spaghetti listed on a restaurant menu, I doubt they were peddling leftovers. There are lots of recipes for fried spaghetti on the web that actually do fry the spaghetti until it's crispy.

Much like the fried crispy noodles offered in Thai and Chinese restaurants.

Here's one recipe I found. This is one of many.
http://www.mealsmatter.org/recipes-meals/recipe/9042

Fried Spaghetti

Ingredients

1 lb. Spaghetti, cooked and kept warm
1/2 lb. Bacon, diced
1 Small onion, finely diced
1/4 cup Finely diced green bell pepper
1/4 cup Finely diced red bell pepper
4 Eggs
2 tablespoons Olive oil
1/2 cup Parmesan cheese
Additional Parmesan cheese for serving

Preparation

In very large fry pan, cook bacon until crisp. Pour off all but about 2 tablespoons fat. Add onions and peppers and saute until soft. Add drained spaghetti (breaking spaghetti in half before cooking helps to distribute it better.) Break eggs into a small bowl and stir, then pour over spaghetti. Mix eggs, vegetables, bacon and ½ cup cheese into spaghetti. Add olive oil to pan, then gently press down on spaghetti and cook until bottom is crispy. Turn spaghetti and cook other side until crispy. (You may need to use two spatulas.) To serve, turn out onto serving platter, or cut into four portions while still in pan and serve on individual plates. Sprinkle with additional cheese, if desired.

Cook's Notes

My kids always asked for this dish, and called it "bacon and egg spaghetti." The cooking technique makes it easy to serve and eat without "twirling" the spaghetti.

Yeah, or a spaghetti omelette. I think the eggs are probably needed to make it stick together, but I don't want eggs in my pasta.

That sounds pretty good. I had spaghetti for dinner last night, so I may just try this recipe out with the leftovers, minus a few of the ingredients. Man, now you've got me really hungry!!

I was telling a co-worker friend about this thread, and she and I were thinking that fried spaghetti has to be compared to goulash or something. Is that true?

Also, how is fried ice cream prepared? That also sounds interesting...

The Fried Ice cream had some kinda crispy coating on it and it was actually deep fried.

Well, I fried me up some leftovers last night with olive oil, and I have to say, it was damn tasty!!! I sort of did my own variation though, and made it a bit healthier, but it was still very good. I fully recommend fried spaghetti!! It's good stuff!!! :D

Yuck!!!
My sentiments exactly. I'm not much of a spaghetti fan to begin with...Fried spaghetti just makes me want to barf! Don't get me wrong, spaghetti is good, but I don't like eating stuff that I have to twirl around on my fork. Gimme penne :)

BTW, I've had fried ice cream before, a few years ago. IT WAS HORRIBLE!!!!!!!!! I don't want the outer layer of my ice cream to be breaded. NAST-AY. I cannot stand breaded food. Ew.

There are several different recipes, so it might just be that that particular recipe wasn't right for you. Anyway, sorry you didn't like it. Did you finish it, or did you end up throwing it all away??
