They're OKAY. But they get all the good excuses, like the following:

I lost my invisble key
I had to walk against the wind to get here!

One of our subs in science at the beginning of the year was a mime, and the last day she was there (our normal teacher had maternity leave), she took up the whole hour miming for us, so I think it's pretty kewl.
