Just wondering if there are an updates to her story? I did a search on the boards and came up with nothing...does anyone know who I am talking about? hmm she is the girl who fled to Florida (I think) with her boyfriend named Jessy and things didn't work out so well. Jessy's body was found along side some railroad tracks and Wendy had been calling home a few times.

I haven't seen this segment but I don't think Lifetime ever airs it. Yes there was an update to the case and Wendy's body was found and apparently was killed soon around the same time as her boyfriend. Someone has confessed to her murder:

Holy s**t Thanks for that update.. gee I wonder who was calling her home saying they were her well after her boyfriend died. Crystal, they even had security footage of her going into a gas station just before making the call, her mum was 100% sure it was Wendy and her dad said 85%. The call was traced to a gas station but one 2 miles away...how bizarre!

It's amazing how parents want to believe that their children are still alive. This case makes me think of the Kari Lynn Nixon case. She was abducted and murdered the night she disappeared, but her parents were POSITIVE that she was in a New Kids on the Block video.

Yeah I know, very sad.
I'm still wondering why anyone would play such a cruel joke on these parents?

I actually heard on the news this week that Miguel Angel Resendiz, nicknamed "The Railroad Killer," was set to be executed soon. They said his attorney was trying to get a stay of execution because some believe Resendiz is mentally ill. Apparently, he is not afraid of being executed because he doesn't believe he is fully human. He believes he is part man and part beast. Many believe he is a paranoid schizophrenic and should not be executed because he himself isn't afraid of this penalty and doesn't care either way.
Sorry that I did not paste a link, this information is from a radio news broadcast I heard yesterday while driving.
Resendiz was executed last night.
Some of the articles on the topic that I found at Google News mention Wendy. Here are two of them.

I was thinking the exact same thing. Just caught the segment on my DVR.
I don't know. I can't imagine what it would be like for a parent to have a missing child like that, but I guess I just wish the parents had enough integrity to say "I feel strongly that's my daughter" rather than "I'm 100% sure that's her." It certainly throws of the investigation process, plus it makes it more difficult for parents who possibly really could identify their children because it's just tough to believe them since so many parents who claim they are certain are mistaken.
Tragic case though. Thankfully the man who committed the crimes will never do anything similar again.

I just saw this story featured on another show today (called murders and motives or something like that). One thing I thought was interesting was that they said on this show that they knew within 5 days that the phone call hadn't been made from the same gas station as the surveillance tape with the girl who looked like wendy. If they knew that so quickly Im wondering why UM even brought it up.....seems like that would have just confused the facts more at the time since they were still looking for her....
