LOVED that character - absolutely adored him/her!

As embarrassing as it is to admit, I STILL tear up when they air the ep where he's murdered.

When Beverly took off the wig, i loved the explosion in the studio audience after he did it, I think that was the only time the audience exploded like that on all in the family. Some guy in the audience was really going wild, u could hear it-lol

I think possibly the only other time was when Sammy Davis smooched Arch before he left. I think it got the longest laugh of the series. Beverly was a very close second though!

I love the ep where Archie wants to play the joke on Pinky and set him up with Beverly.

THE CHARACTER WAS MURDERED?? I never knew that! So THAT'S what happened to her/him. All these years; I thought she/he was just anothe character that dissapeared and they never mentioned them again, like Frank & Irene, Pinky, Munson, Kelsey & Harry.

How'd she/he get murdered? What were the details?

She/he got murdered on one of the Christmas shows. He was walking with Mike and they got mugged. I remember when I first saw it back in the 70's. That was a powerful episode because Edith lost her faith in God for awhile.

I just didn't see how you having the CBS ep had anything to do with the Topic. Stick to the Topic Man this is a TV Discussion Board not Trading.

I absolutely loved Beverly LaSalle! Very funny character--that Xmas episode always makes me sad, as well. I haven't seen it in ages, but I remember Mike saying something like, "The only thing I agree with religion is the way that people can turn to God when something goes wrong" to Edith. I really like that quote. :)

Yes, funny it took the Meathead to bring Edith to her senses again. Great episode, it's my second favorite.

Yeah - my apologies to Treky for not getting back to them (been away for a while). Yes - actually though, it wasn't a true mugging, but a gay bashing. The thugs knew Beverly was a transvestite and beat him up for it (which of course, doesn't even mean he was gay - they're two different things). But it really brought it home to people back then that this was going on.
They just aired the two-part ep again on Canadian TVLand during a Christmas marathon over the holidays.

Wonder what other works that actor did?

I loved where they were all in the restaurant and Archie asks Edith to accompany Beverly to the rest room. Edith (befuddled as always) asks, "How are we going to do THAT?"

Beverly's classic response: "Sitting down!"

So whatever happened to the actor that played Beverly? Is he still around/still performing? I don't know much about the actors history.

I think the last Pinky episode was in the 9th season where he puts a girl in bed with Archie as a joke. I don't think the character ever appeared on Archie Bunkers Place.

Beverly was a pretty funny character, its to bad they killed her off. They
should have let her keep popping up on more of the episodes.
