I'm dubbing today awkward day because it's been full of awkward moments.

Like when we played Scattergories in Spanish with alcoholic beverages that I knew nothing about.

Or just now in my meeting with my HPM...He lives in the town next to me and hes like asking me questions about campus and all of a sudden hes like "Wait, where do you live?" and I started telling him where my house was, for some reason and hes like "Ohh yeah I know where that is...where do you live on campus?"

And the girl I was with in the elevator who was crying.

She also looked @ my texts on my phone and now she knows what I'm going to do on Sunday. And that was something she REALLY didn't need to know. Next time, I'm hiding my phone.

I don't care THAT much, because I'm old enough now, but there are just some things in my life that she doesn't need to know about. If I want her to know, I'll tell her. Otherwise, no ****ing way. I'm just a little annoyed that this happened.

No kidding. But then I realize we've both been out of high school for a while- me longer than you, being that you graduated in 2004 and I graduated in 2003- so it was bound to happen sooner or later. We're all still too awfully young, though. I'll be reading somebody's entry in some community on LJ and they'll talk about their fiance or husband, so then I'll look at their userinfo and I'm always shocked if I see their birth year as being 1987 or 1988. THAT'S TOO YOUNG TO THINK ABOUR MARRIAGE, SERIOUSLY. Teen/early adult pregnancies- it happens. But I think that anyway about females who are of a young age and have children already.

When I was 18, I didn't even want to be settled down. I still don't right now. I'd like to think about it by the time I'm 25, and that's old enough for me. I always wonder what these peoples' children will think when they grow up and realize that their mothers had them at a very young age.

On that same vein, I can't believe it's been 4 years now since I started my senior year in HS. It seems like just yesterday that it was 2002.

Yeah, I understand that. So far, I don't have any close friends that are pregnant, although one of my friends is already a mother of two, and she's only 23 (she had her first kid @ 18 and the other when she was 20 or 21, I think). I was soooooo shocked when I first found out, I guess because she still acts like the rest of us- she can actually separate her lives and make it work - her school/work/mother lives. Not many young mothers can do that. Plus, she is extremely in shape... you would never tell she is a mother by looking at her. But I think it's cool... she has a great situation going for her, so it's good and all that.

I just wish people wouldn't get married out of high school...That's pretty depressing.

Yeah, those right out of high school marriages help you realize why the divorce rate is so high. You need to figure out who you are as an individual and find out what you really want in life before you settle down and get married.

re: the divorce rates, I agree completely. Eighteen is just too young to be even thinking about that kind of thing. I'm not that much older now, but you really do have a different perspective in your twenties than when you're 17 or 18. It's just great to allow yourself to find yourself in college... You'd regret it otherwise if you didn't.

And about my friend, I agree completely... she's one of the lucky ones. She's on great terms with the father of her children, and their children are able to spend time with both parents. Not many young parents have that opportunity, especially being a single parent.

Yeah, I don't even understand why someone would want to get married at 18. Sure I'm most likely going to be 23 or 24 when I get married, which is still young, but at least I will be out of college and more mature than someone just out of high school.

That's a reasonable age. :) My mom still regrets getting married so young... she was 20, my dad was 23 wne they wed. 23 isn't a bad age, but 20 is too young... my mom dropped out of college and it took her 26 years to finally finish where she left off in college. It's always ideal to get married after you've been out of college, at least you have time to find yourself and do whatever before you feel ready to settle down. You can't do that when you're married and in college...boring.

My best friend in high school, Kevin, got married during the summer of 1997 when he was only 20 years old. Actually, the wedding was in early June and he didn't have his birthday until July, so he was actually only 19. He and his girlfriend got married because they got pregnant in late '96. Both he and his girlfriend were students with me at MSU. She graduated in May 1997 but he had to drop out. They were only married for a year before they seperated. They fought all the time, so I didn't really expect their marriage would last very long. :(

Hee hee :D

My mom think that 23/24 really young although it's the same age she was when she got married and she is still with my dad. But she is so clueless as to what my future plans are but one of these days she'll have to find out, especially since Anthony wants to ask my parent's permission before he proposes.

That reminds me of the crackwhore that used to be my best friend. (What the f*ck was I thinking? Yeah.) She had an older sister that was, let me see. She was 19 when she got married in August of 1997- she graduated from HS in 1996. They're still married, but I don't know how great their marriage is. I was at her older sister's wedding...it was interesting, needless to say.

And, oh yeah, that crackwhore. Last I heard, the crackwhore herself got married young too- October of 2005, at 21. Yeah, that's a little older... but not until I tell you that she married some guy more than 2x her AGE. Yeah, she married some d00d in his 40's that already had two TEENAGE daughters. They must really like having a stepmom that's only a few years older than them. Awesome.

I'm ready for winter! Remember the time it got to 112 degrees here? Yeah, I do. That was hell. We had soooo many 100+ degree days in July...that sucked. May-July were killer months here, temperature-wise. It was ALREADY 80 degrees when May rolled around, and it's never that hot here in May...It got to 90 degrees a few times, too. And we had so many 80-90 degree days in June too, and the June average is around 75 degrees. July was the worst of them all... Barely any days that wasn't lower than 95 degrees. It was a HOT and DRY summer here. Screw the humidity - we had so many grass fires here, ugh. We didn't even have the annual fireworks show @ the state capitol grounds, because it was too dangerous w/ the drought conditions.

August was super-wet, though...We got a lot more rain than normal, which was awesome. :D

Oh yes, and it's 63 degrees and raining right now. YAY SEPTEMBER!

We used to have crazy-ass winters down here in my part of ND. We're talking at least 4' or more of snow every year with 10' snow drifts everywhere. I can vividly remember that the winters of 1990 through 1993 were crazy-ass. We got SO much snow...Wow, just wow. The winter of 1993 was the worst, I think, because we had 12' and higher snow drifts after getting like eight or more blizzards that winter. One of the blizzards was so bad that it buried vehicles and houses...I have pictures of one of my uncles' house with all but one side of their house buried under like 12' of snow. That was one crazy winter.

When I used to live near Grand Forks, the winter of 1996 was just as bad... but not like '93. I remember we had like 10 blizzards that year and we had SO much black ice and SO much snow... Then in April of 1997, all the snow melted really quickly because we had a freakishly warm spring up here... And that, in turn, caused the 1997 Grand Forks Flood.

http://www.draves.com/gf/
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Red_River_Flood,_1997

That was almost 10 years ago, and people/businesses are STILL recovering from the flood...it was a nasty one, just about wiped out two towns and everybody had to pack up and leave town.

Nowadays, we just have REALLY cold winters down here. We barely got any snow last year.

Climate

Syracuse is known for its snowfall. With 115.6 inches (293.6 cm) average,[3] the Syracuse metro area receives more snow on average than any other large city in the United States.[4] Research has even shown that Syracuse is the snowiest large city in the world.

Oh, and this.

One notable blizzard was the Blizzard of 1993, during which 42.9 inches (109 cm) fell on the city within 48 hours, with 35.6 inches (90.4 cm) falling within the first 24 hours. Syracuse received more snow than any other city in the country during this storm, which shattered a total of eight local records, including most the snow in a single snowstorm.
