I like the Beach Boys earlier songs especially--they bring back many good memories of Jr. High and early high school for me, (e.g.,Surfer Girl, Fun, Fun, Fun, etc.,)

I like a lot of the Beach Boys' songs. I really like a lot of the songs on the Pet Sounds album, such as Wouldn't It Be Nice, That's Not Me, Let's Go Away For a While, God Only Knows, I Just Wasn't Made For These Times and Pet Sounds.

I also like California Girls, Good Vibrations, Do It Again, etc...I think they're a really good group.

I am a Beach Boys fan. The Beach Boys were the first group I ever saw in concert at our State Fair in the early 90's and I thought they were really good. Also the Beach Boys were the first Cassette Tapes my mom let me buy I had there Surfin U.S.A. one and one of there Concert Tapes. I even have a CD of a bunch of Country Singers singing Beach Boys songs. My favorite Beach Boys songs are- Don't Worry Baby, Sloop John B., The Warmth of the Sun, God Only Knows, Kokamo, Good Vibrations, Barbara Ann, California Girls, In My Room and Surfin' Safari. I am also a big fan of Brian Wilsons daughters group Wilson Phillips, that's one of my favorite music groups. I think Carnie and Wendy have great voices, I just wish they would make another album.

I got to see the originals with Carl and Al in 1992. The cassette your talking about with different country stars is stars and stripes vol 1. I have the tape to that as well.

*Raises hand* Me!:D And what's weird is that I'm 22(VERY YOUNG) and find myself jamming to their songs!:D :o  (People more than twice my age should be the people jamming to this, not me,) I considered buying a CD of their greatest hits, but even though the thrift store sold it for 4.00, I didn't have 4 dollars on me and had to walk away from it......:( But, i hid it under bags of 45 inch singles so no one would buy it), but I think someone has found it by now. I especially LOVE Kokomo! That song takes me away!:D

Yep John is a big Beach Boys fan just like us. I got a chance to see him with them back in 1992. You still can see The Beach Boys but its just not the same without Al Jardine and Carl Wilson there. I never got a chance to see them with Dennis because I was little then when he died. I did get to see Brian Wilson on a couple of solo concerts for Pet Sounds and with Paul Simon.

They didn't make the top ten, but were quite popular.
If you go to amazon.com (the music section, of course) and look up "Beach Boys, The Greatest Hits Vol. 2," you can hear a 15-20 second sample of "Don't Worry Baby" and "The Warmth of the Sun."

Definitely a fan of the Beach Boys. Personally, I really like their 70's and some of the 80's catalog best.

Top 10 for me might look something like this:

1. Sail On Sailor
2. Come Go With Me
3. Good Timin'
4. Kokomo
5. Getcha Back
6. Goin' On
7. Rock And Roll Music (Single Mix)
8. Warmth Of The Sun
9. Little Saint Nick (I know it's a Christmas song, but I still love it!)
10. Lady Lynda

Well, I've searched long and hard for a thread about the Beach Boys, so I'm :bump :bump :bump this one up! Looks like it hasn't been touched in a few years!

I absolutely LOVE the Beach Boys, but I must explain something. I love the Beach Boys with Brian Wilson. They are coming to Safeco Field on Sept 16th, the day AFTER my birthday. Now, if Brian Wilson was still with the band, I would already be there! However, I REFUSE to go to a Beach Boys concert if Brian Wilson isn't with them. And no, I won't go to a Brian Wilson concert either. Call me weird, but that's just how I feel about them!

However, without him it's just not the same. I love Mike Love (), but seriously I can't remember who else is still with the band. I know that Carl Wilson died recently, but I don't remember much else.

In 1991, I went to the best concert with my mom (which was funny because my dad got me free tickets!) at Starplex Ampitheatre in Dallas and not only were the Beach Boys there but also Three Dog Night and America! How cool is THAT? We had lawn seats, but they were awesome:mango !

As for favorite songs, it would take me a while to list them all, but my all-time favorite song is "Sloop John B". I LOVE that song! My husband's favorite song is "Sail On Sailor". Great song! I see that the poster before me mentioned that song as well. Interesting....

I dig the Beach Boys a whole bunch and would pick them over the Beatles.

I like their later stuff from the late 60's and early 70's a lot. Seriously, The Beach Boys are forever viewed as a surf, fun in the sun band, and their later material is way overlooked. Sunflower from 1970 is amazing album, and it would pick that as my favorite. Surf's Up, Carl & The Passions, Hollandare great works too. Got to admit though I never really did care for their work after the mid 70's.

It's funny but one of my all-time favorite CD's of their's is a newer one called "Still Crusin'" It has a bunch of new songs (like "Kokomo"), but they sound like the classic stuff. I used to listen to that all the time! And they did include the classics as well, like "Barbara Ann" , "Good Vibrations" and "Fun Fun Fun"
Andrea

PS: Did you see them when they were on Full House? That is one of my FAVORITE episodes! DJ wins tickets to see the Beach Boys and can't decide who to take, so the group shows up at her house! ROFL!!!

has anyone here heard Brian Wilson's new one, "That Lucky Old Sun"? I am not a seasoned fan or anything (I do own Pet Sounds and like some of the other stuff I've heard) but I gave that one a chance and it grew on me a lot. It's almost like a really long suite as the main theme of the sun rolling around Heaven pops up at least five times throughout the album. It's a good record and I think he's still got it at age 66.
