This is an important season with the birth of Joey. It also has one of my all-time favorite episodes on it "The Little Atheist". I wonder if Sony will wait until 2007. The waits between these sets is too long. Does anyone have any idea when it is due to be released? Thanks. :)

This should be coming soon, shouldn't it? It's one of the best seasons. After this, there are only 3 more seasons to release before they finish off "Archie Bunker's Place" as well. I hope it gets a release before the end of the year. I think it could sell really well for the holidays. It's been 5 months since the release of Season 5. I'm looking forward to this. :talk:

I wish Sony would hurry up with AITF Season 6. I only discovered AITF in 2000 when I was on vacation in Massachusetts. It doesn't air in the UK so I've been watching the episodes for the first time on DVD. I'm really enjoying it and I wish Season 6 would come out soon.
Sony have to be the worst studio for releasing DVDs. They've been releasing AITF since 2002 and we're only up to Season 5! They've even messed around with Seinfeld - in 12 months they released 6 seasons of Seinfeld. It was obviously selling very well around the globe but they then decide to make us wait a whole year for Season 7. I think Sony's treatment of AITF has been disgusting: an appalling release rate and a complete lack of extras.

I agree! Quit releasing these crappy shows onto DVD and release season six of All in the Family! (And, season 4 of Green Acres, while we're at it.)

Hasn't it been over a year since season 5 came out? Usually, the sets come out 2-3 times a year. I have seasons 1-5. But did the seasons sell well? Normally if a series doesn't sell well they will stop selling them.

I don't think it's been a year yet--I believe season five was released in January, but it's been a while. I remember finding it odd that "Archie Bunker's Place" season 1 was released a short while after AITF season 5, so that might partly explain the delay in releasing season six. I'm hoping season two of ABP also releases--I'd really love to see that two-parter episode again.

I hope they do. It would stink to just stop the series now.

I still will never understand why APB was released and AITF is no where near completion. Makes no sense

I know! It's been 4 years since the 1st season was released and they're only up to Season 5!?!?!?!?!? This sucks!

A lot of that was because there was a big gap between All in the Family Season 2 and Season 3. (Of course, there was an even bigger gap between Jeffersons 2 and Jeffersons 3, as I'm sure we all remember.)

I thought for sure we would have heard something by now about Season 6. Sony sure missed an opportunity to release this set around Thanksgiving with the episode where they have Thanksgiving at Mike and Gloria's and Irene joins them. Season 6 could also do really well around the Christmas holiday if they release it before then but that's very unlikely since they have announced all dvd releases up until Dec. 19. :(
And what about Season 2 of "Archie Bunker's Place". This is a pivotal season with the death of Edith. That alone will ensure sales for those who have always wondered what happened to her character.

I'm getting concerned. Hope they don't end up cancelling the AITF series on DVD.

That's why I asked higher up how the sales have been. Shows are released based on demand. For example, I Dream of Jeannie has announced season 3 will come out 2 months late, but no guarantee of a season 4 (there were 5 seasons overall) as season 2 sales were poor. No company will release a DVD if they don't sell.

Still no sign of Season 6 on dvd. It's unfortunate because it really is one of the better seasons with the introduction of Beverly LaSalle and Little Joey. It will be a year since the release of Season 5 according to Sony's projected dvd release dates for 2007 so far. Either they are waiting even longer for the next season or they are not intending to release it. It's too bad.

Well, if I had known that question, I'd post the answer.

Well, All In The Family is such a popular show, so I'm trying to believe that the DVD releases will continue and get this far with all these seasons. So hopefully, they're just waiting longer for the next season.

I emailed tvshowsondvd.com and they told me that the sales of the seasons were not doing well. My editorial comment is that while they may not be doing well, it doesn't necessarily mean that they won't be releasing future seasons. They probably just won't do it at the rate of Sanford and Son and some of the other series.
The low sales surprise me but I suppose anyone who is a fan of a show would say that of their favorite show. I did talk with someone at Sony and she said that more seasons will be coming out but she didn't know when.
I don't know how the industry works but I think they focus on the shows that are selling red hot and then when a hole comes up in the schedule, they fill it in with something like this. I don't know the gap but I know it was quite sometime between seasons 3 and 4 of Starsky and Hutch. IMO, I think the rest of the seasons will come out but it will be at a very slow pace.
All I can say is that if you haven't purchased seasons 1-5, get out there and support this show!
I also want to say that I wish someone other than Sony owned the rights, perhaps we'd see a different marketing strategy. I just want to see the shows but it doesn't seem like a show which had such an impact as AITF gets a lot of respect from the studio.

Sony is announcing a returning sitcom on Nov. 20 for release in January 2007. Pavan told us it was an older sitcom that should make a lot of us very happy. We hope it's AITF! :)
