which spin off do you like better? I know this is a lame question but I am trying to stir up action here. This was the only thing I could think of.

I think it's a really good question! I have to say I like them both though! They are both funny in their own ways. I love Bea Arthur's sarcasm and I also like a lot of things about the Jefferson's. George's character was funny and I loved Florence, and I liked the way everyone played off each other on the show.

Maude...... the Jeffersons may have been funnier, but, I think Maude was a more intelligent show, the Liberal version of all in the Family, you might say

The Jeffersons all the way, Maude is just for one time viewing
I like some AITF episodes, most of those are from seasons 1-4. But there was never a spinoff from AITF that I really liked. The series changed TV comedy, alright-- within 3 or 4 years every sitcom was some kind of stepchild of AITF, making sneering jokes about sex, religion, Americanism, et al. Maude and The Jeffersons just picked up AITF type material and put into different settings. AITF was new in its type of material, and the perfect setting to exploit it; however I never liked the fact that more 'innocent' comedies were completely pushed out of television because of its success.

Definitely the Jeffersons...
I think the Jeffersons had a much better cast overall. I can still watch the Jeffersons today (esp the earlier episodes), but I can't sit through an episode of Maude... tried to watch Maude as a kid when it first came on, but never got into it... tried to watch it as an adult to see if I missed anything, but I found out that I didn't... and today, I really can't stand Bea Arthur.

Maude was awsome on AITF (Some of the funniest shows were with maude.)but wasn't as good when she got her own show. The Jeffersons were still as funny after they moved on up...
I liked The Jeffersons alot more than Maude.

What was it about Maude that made you not like it not as much as the Jeffersons?
Maude just wasn't as funny a show as the Jeffersons. The characters just weren't as entertaining to me. I liked Maude ok, but if I had to decide to buy a dvd, I'd buy the Jeffersons before I would Maude.

This is exactly how I feel too. I liked all the issues. The serious, and the funny ones. And I liked that Maude would always talk about politics.

I enjoyed the Jefferson's appearances regularly but when Maude came in on rare occasions it was classic... Her and Archie had some rib splitting moments... lol. I wasn't much of a fan of Maude in her own show but the Jefferson's were still funny as ever on the own show.. So I will have to vote for. The Jefferson's

I'll have to say Jeffersons cause ive never seen maude but it was funny how she tormented archie when he was sick and when she slammed the door in his face when he and edith came to visit, but i like how george and archie just didnt get along at the engagement party when archie was saying all the things as usual when hes around someone black, and Sherman Hemsley is very funny thats why they had 11 seasons. I say the Jeffersons all the way.

Maude made a great guest on a show, and the one where she comes to take care of the whole family when they get sick is, to me, one of the funniest in the series. But the show Maude was weak; Maude came across as too one-dimensional.
The Jeffersons was much more layered and funnier. There really weren't any funny characters on Maude--put there were at least two on the Jeffersons. In particular Florence and Mother Jefferson did and said things that were real hoots.
(I know God Will Get Me For This Maude but I'm sorry the Jeffersons was better!)
