I think Slippery Dan summed it up and said it best for us 1982er's. I'll stick with his answers! But I'll add some dramas that debuted and were canceled just so it doesn't look like I'm a poster who mooches off of people's answers! http://www.sitcomsonline.com/ubb/smile.gif
Debuts:Knight Rider
Remington Steele
St. Elsewhere
Canceled:Lou Grant
And Silver Spoons debuted, too in 82. And who could forget the New Odd Couple? haha

Don't forget that Argentina invaded the Falkland Islands in Paril 1982. And let's not forget the shows that started syndication in 1982. They were Vega$, Three's Company, Eight Is Enough, CHiPS, One Day At A Time, Harry O, Mork & Mindy, and WKRP In Cincinnati. Also The Powers of Matthew Star premiered. It was supposed to premier fall of 81, but Peter Barton was burned in some kind of accident.

I'll add a few more interesting facts.
-Michael Jackson's "Thriller" sold 20 million albums to become the largest selling record ever.
-John Belushi died March 5 of a cocaine and heroin overdose. He was only 33
That's about it for me I think. Can't think of any more right now.

February 28, 1989. Am I right?
The only show that I know of that debuted on my birthday was Diagnosis Murder. I wasn't born in that year though of course. I can't imagine a 7 year old posting here! Then again, you never know I guess!

Miami Vice premiered on my second birthday.
In 1982 when they were filming The Powers of Matthew Star, Peter Barton was burned in an accident. The Powers of Matthew Star is one of the only shows I know that appeared twice in two different Fall Preview TV Guides. It's in the 1981 and 1982 Fall Previews. The 1982 Fall Preview explains the delay (burning accident).
More stuff for 1982:
Israel invaded Lebanon.
Princess Grace dies in a car accident two days before I am born.
John Hinckley Jr is found not guilty by reason of insanity in his trial in the shooting of President Reagan.
San Francisco 49ers beat Cincinnati Bengals in Super Bowl XVI.
St. Louis Cardinals beat Milwaukee Brewers in the World Series.
Los Angeles Lakers beat Philadelphia 76ers in the NBA Finals.
New York Islanders beat Vancouver Canucks to win the Stanley Cup.
Italy beat West Germany to win the World Cup (Soccer).
Barney Clark becomes the first human to receive an artificial heart transplant.
Miss Arkansas Elizabeth Ward wins the Miss America pageant.
