[Nancy McKeon is my idol!!]

which college do u want to go to and what do u want to major in? and for those of u that R in college which one do u go to and which major are u majoring in?

I want to go to UCLA ( becuase its in Los Angles and Nancy McKeon lives in Los Angeles and its a good coleege )

and major in Journalism and Business , then work for the New York Stock Exchange. My job will hopefully be a Finacial JOurnalist New Anchor for CNBC!

If that's what you want to do, you probably don't want to go to UCLA. I minored in journalism and majored in broadcasting, so I know a little bit about what it takes to become a broadcast journalist. My husband used to work as a runner on the NY stock exchange before we moved back to Chicago for bigger opportunities on the Chicago Board of Trade. Most of his colleagues were from Ivy League or premiere East Coast schools. Princeton and Columbia are both excellent Journalism schools as well, but very tough to get into.

Don't make school choices based on where a celebrity lives. Remember that there are 12 million non famous people living in LA as well.

No kidding! No offense, but if you pick a school based just on where a celebrity lives, then you are being foolish. Just because you live in LA doesn't even mean you will ever even see Nancy McKeon!!! Pick a school that has a good program for your major. This is your whole future, don't revolve it around Nancy!

Certain colleges have better programs than others which I believe coily was saying. UCLA may have a journalism school (I really don't know), but it won't be as good as say Columbia. Some programs get shafted at schools in favor of other programs (This is my college). When you look at schools you have to look at the majors your interested in and not just the overall school. I was not going to a school with a less then average history or political science program. My Dad majored in Journalism at the University of Missouri-Columbia and they have a very good program.

Speaking from the experiences some of my high school classmates have, you should be very careful selecting a campus in an unfamiliar area. Things are not always what they seem and you could be miserable if you hate the school or the area. I've never had this problem when I went away to school, but several of my classmates couldn't handle the transition.

I'm not saying that it is a bad school. What I'm saying is that what you talked about doing are very NY set jobs, and you will have the competition from graduates from east coast schools. This is bad for a couple of reasons - 1)East coast schools are a little more prestigious as far as academics are concerned, where as UCLA is known as a school with a strong sports program; and 2)Employers are less likely to interview people living on the other side of the country when they can interview someone right there who wouldn't have to relocate.

There are so many things you have to ask yourself when looking at schools. Think long and hard about what you want to achieve in college and what you want to do when you get out. Going to college in a major city is a much different experience than going to college in a small college town. You will be much happier and much more academically sucessful if you chose a college that you can see yourself living at rather than chosing a college because so and so lives nearby or because you think that the city sounds interesting. And never, ever, go to a college sight unseen. Make sure you visit a campus and enjoy it. Afterall, it is going to be your home for the next 4 years.

Yes, UCLA would be a great school to go to if you want to do anything in the medical field or science. Probley one of the best schools for medical and science careers scince it is well known for that.
