I would like to go to UCLA, but that will never happen 'cause there's no way my family could afford dorms. So I'll probably have to go to Miami U. in Hamilton or Oxford. If I study business I can go to Southwester Ohio College (it's where my sister's going next year), but I really don't want to study business....

Knowing what I know now, I probably would have gone to University of Wisconsin. Notre Dame has a beautiful campus, but I did the perochial thing in high school and would never do it again. Northwestern is an awesome campus, but going to school in a major city just doesn't seem like it would be as much fun for me. I've done some graduate work there and have decided that it is not for me. You have much less of a campus life there than in college towns.

I want to go to the University of Illinois in Champaign. It is supposed to be one of the best colleges there is. It is a long shot and I will probably end up going to Western Illinois or UIS. (University of Illinois-Springfield)

Stephanie: Nice move. Did you make that up?
Tony: Yeah, well I saw it on TV first, then I made it up.

Ahhh... WIU... my old alma mater.... Don't knock it. I'll put my WIU education to a pepsi challenge with anyone from UIUC. I got a Masters degree at UIUC, so I can speak from experience. And my tuition was about half at WIU! UIS sucks. ISU sucks. EIU sucks. NIU sucks. SIU kicks butt! But WIU, don't say anything bad about or you will see one pissed off Coily....

Ok coily- my Mom and two aunts went to EIU!! Their two brothers went too, but didn't make it past the first year or two. It took my uncle about 20 years to get his degree, but he got it. My aunt got her Master's from SIU and I got some information from there for grad school because they have an MPA, but I would die living in Carbondale. Plus, Dad said something about it having a reputation for growing pot in the greenhouses, or at least it did when he was college in the late 60s, early 70s.

SIU-Carbondale is the state's party school. I don't doubt the pot rumors at all. I was there visiting during the infamous halloween parties (I don't recall if it was 93 or 94) but there were huge campus parties that all the authorities mistook as riots. Fires were set, cars were overturned. I got pepper sprayed (and let me tell you, it hurt!!!). It was a blast! Anyhow, they now have a "fall break" during halloween to prevent it from happening again. As far as academia is concerned, I don't know too much about it. I most likely would have failed out if I went to school there. There is so much going on in the way of partying that you really need to stay focused.
I don't like EIU because it is so close to Champaign. It seems to be UIUC's bastard stepchild - kids who can't hack it there turn up at EIU so they can stay close to their frat brothers and stuff.
