View Full Version : It would be nice to see TJ eliminate this from SitcomsOnline Again

Where you can see how many Posts you have. By having that, it makes a lot of members try and win an award that doesn't exist for the highest number of posts. And then they go to Threads about TV and add NOTHING but-"I see" or "Yup" so they can win the Post Total Award. It just seemed like TV Discussions were a lot better when the Post Total wasn't showing.

i don't think anyone actually does "post racing" anymore- people might just say "Yup" cause they agree o_O

When I first came here their were threads made with just one person posting in it...I think they were at the random board. Those were just to raise the post count and most of the stuff in them was just stupid. I don't see them anymore.

I think that's what the whole "Games" section is for... to raise your post counts. Because I dont know how entertaining it is to count by 2s with other people.

LOL
I think it's annoying when people try and boost their post total, but I don't really see the point in not having post counts visible. Some people would still spam. I like to be able to see how many I have, but I usually only post at Random to talk to people so I'm not trying to have more than anybody else. :p

Yeah same here. The other day I looked over and I was surprised I had over 500. Didnt seem like I've been here that long or posted that much. 500 isnt much compared to some peoples 10,000 but still. 500 seems like a lot to me. Not that I care all that much.

I don't think it would make any difference to the people who are really trying to boost their post count, they will do it regardless of if the post count shows or doesn't.

what they really need to get rid of is that stupid 15 seconds in between posts rule. what's the point in it anyway? it's annoying when you're posting in random a lot or something.
Janice
05-14-2006, 08:50 PM
I don't think it's an issue anymore. A few years back, a lot of the members were much younger, and post count appealed to them. Now that they've matured, I don't think it matters.

While I've been here five and a half, and have roughly 4500 posts...Honestly, the post count thing is just NOT an issue nowadays, for largely the reasons Janice mentioned

I didn't realize this was even an issue anymore. People post worthless crap all the time, regardless of post totals. If they were there, people would post worrthless crap. If they weren't there, people would still post worthless crap.

It is not an issue as it was with the likes of certain people a couple of years ago. (Brett Ferino immediately jumps to mind)
However, there is some validity to what Solomon is saying. There are a small few who I think still do it to boost totals. The Games board is a perfect example of that. If I see a person posting a hundred times in the games board in a matter of minutes, to me, it looks like nothing but boosting totals. The counting games are perfectly useless. What is the big fun in counting?

I may be wrong, but I don't think they ever did that. That would definitely be a start. Eliminate everybody's posts from the games board and whoever drastically drops in posts, is guilty.
