I was just talking about this on a different site I post at regularly and thought it would be fun to post here. What is your brush with fame? Have you appeared on your local news? Have you done some acting job?

Here's mine:

I was working as a movie projectionist one summer at a local ma & pa movie house (read: non-union worker who made the $4.25 minimum wage instead of the $50 that unionized shops paid). I don't know how, but somehow they caught me on film filling up a popcorn tub. I only went behind the concession stand when I was stealing popcorn, but that's a whole other story. Anyhow, a few months after I quit to go back to college, one of my friends at home called me to let me know that there was this little "Welcome to our theater, hope we can accomodate you" montage shown after the previews but before the feature attraction. And for the blurb about going out to the lobby and grabbing yourself a snack, guess who was serving up popcorn? To make matters worse, the day they managed to grab that shot, I was heading out to a rave after my shift, so I was getting all candied up in my booth during the movie. The cheap camera they used had a crappy lense and poor lighting, so my makeup made me look like a hooker.

2 years later, the owner sold his theaters to Sony or Lowes or someone. Lord knows what they did with that trailer. But to this day, my friends still tease me about working in "film". Then they sing the "Let's go out to the lobby" song to me. I hate them.

I was an extra in a Fox Family show, but I don't remember what it was. It was about 1 year ago, and I stepped on the camera wire, and they made me an extra. I was also in the newspaper once or twice.

Well, I used to be in the paper a lot, because of my softball playing. But I was on the front page of the County newspaper once. It was Kevin McCall day ( some guy we honor around here..), and my picture was taken with a guy who was dressed up as Michealangelo from the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles. I was eight or something...but my picture was on the front page! With a Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtle, no less.

Oh! For acting... well, um.. At church... when we did "The Friendship Company", I was one of the cheerleaders that spelled "FRIEND". I was N. And I had the first narrator line in "Wise Guys and Starry Skies". And in "The 50th Annual Polk County Picnin", I was Swine #4. In the middle of a song I got to say "There's nothin' like wallowin' in your dinner". My proudest moment and I was a pig. Wow. Next year I'm gonna be in drama club, but I'm extrememly shy and quiet so I'll probably stick to scenery. And I'll be in Theatre class. But hopefully I'll be with a friend so it won't be as bad. Oh, and in fourth grade, I was in a class that had walls that opened up so it was really two classes. Anyway, we put on two little plays, three performances of each, with different people in each. And I was a girl named Maria in one about a girl who used another girl to get a new backpack. It was really weird but oh well.

I've always had my name in the paper for academics and sports. My good story is last year at Dad Vails in Philly. My boat was getting ready to come off the dock and the dock master said if we could hold on for a few minutes the tv news crew would get us going by and they would ask our school name. We think it made the 6 o'clock news which no one saw, but it wasn't on the 11 o'clock news because I stayed up to watch it! So, I may or may not have been on the Philly news.

Two things....

One, I have appeared on the radio a couple of times doing ads.

Two, I alternate between managing and filming the ball team at my h.s. well, once, a clip from my tape made it on the news (it just so happened that no one else was taping the game that night and they needed some footage so they used mine.) By the way, as a adult job, I want to be a cameraman for ESPN. Crazy, huh,

Okay, to make a very long story short, there was this building or something that in one part of it was dedicated to my great-great grandfather. I was three and we (my family) were all supposed to go there and see it dedicated by the mayor. The mayor or somebody picked me (at three years old!!) to cut the ribbon to it, and so on the news ten years ago on this there's this little kid cutting a ribbon and saying "I cut the ribbon!" Cute, huh? http://www.sitcomsonline.com/ubb/smile.gif

Love is patient and kind, it is not jealous or conceited or proud; love is not ill-mannered or selfish or irritable; love does not keep a record of wrongs; love is not happy with evil but with the truth. Love never gives up, and its faith, hope, and patience never fail. Meanwhile these three remain: faith, hope and love, and the greatest of these is love.
