The first season of Unsolved Mysteries was 1988-1989. I wish they could put these on Dvd by the season. They should make more Dvd's on missing persons, fugitives, unexplained deaths, murders, etc... If anyone ever finds out if this is going to happen please PM me.

Yea, I would like for them to do that too, but I don't think they will, which I think is a mistake considering the people here who are trading the episodes that were taped off TV.

Plus there are SO MANT segments in one Season. I do think that they should make a "Best Of Season 1" and so one. That would be cool, and a "Lost Loves" DVD-set.

No doubt all of us would probably purchase UM dvd sets if they went by season. The guy I talked to at First Look said he highly doubted they would ever do that though.

Why are NBC episodes so hard to find? I have a bunch, but they are all from the same 4-5 people, a couple of whom I've tapped out. I have a few that I taped myself from the original telecasts, but that was toward the end when the show began to suck.

^ That may be true but if you are talking about the original broadcasts if the same four or five people have them they are either highly selective with whom they trade with or want something very specific in return. So thats probably why a lot of the rarer segments are hard to come by. For instance I've been looking for the extortion case thats been floating around these parts (the one that was updated on "Lifetime" but never aired in full) but its proven to be elusive. Either way nothing to get too upset over but since you were pondering...

I have the extortion segment. You're not missing much. From what I can recall, it's more or less what was shown on Lifetime.

Now I wish I would've taped some segments when I used to watch it on NBC.
But, I was just a kid. Some segments from the origional NBC were the most moving. Luckily, crystaldawn is making Favorites DVDs so you have some of that back.
I also wish I would've known it was still broadcasting on NBC when I was in High School (early to late 90s).

I know the feeling all too well. From a young age, I had a VCR in my room, and I would only record the paranormal stuff off UM, not the murder stories. As I got older, I would occasioanlly do "time shifting" recording to catch UM when I wasn't home, but most of those tapes are long gone. Had I known my love affair with UM would become an obsession later in life, I would have done a better job recording those first run NBC episodes.

I was always obsessed with UM from when I was about 7 or 8......It just resurfaced after College when I found out about it being on Prime TV. lol It all came back, so to speak.

We're totally on the same wavelength, it's scary. I was obsessed with the commercials for UM when I was that same age. The show itself was on past my bedtime, so I never got to watch it. Not to menton the first time I actually watched an episode in it's entirety, I was scared ****less, and couldn't sleep. The parents were not happy, so UM became forbidden. They seriously wouldn't let me watch it because my sleep was disturbed every time I did. I used to spend my summers with grandma and she would let me watch it as she was oblivious. I didn't get much sleep, but it was worth it. I rediscovered Lifetime reruns when I was in high school. Been downhill ever since.

Wow......it was on at 8 pm here.....we used to watch it in our pyjamas then go to bed at 9 or 10. I was scared ****less too after as I had the only basement bedroom and after my parents went to sleep, I'd sneak upstairs to sleep on the couch. lol
Totally on the same wavelength lol
