Ugh. Bad marathon choices. They should do one for Night Court, Dick Van Dyke, and Leave it to Beaver - not the same ole same ole like Sanford and Son and All in the Family. :( TV Land is so disappointing these days.

Typical, in regards to the 48 hour marathons. Just plain typical. Good for TC, though, I'll be reacquainting myself with it through the marathon.

I get so annoyed by TVLand sometimes. For every special stunt they have, every marathon, it's ALWAYS shows that we see on their channel every single day. The beauty of the Warner Brothers marathon last year was that throughout the entire schedule, there was absolutely no show that was on TVLand's regular schedule. It was such an incredible experience, and I know the ratings weren't good for it, but sometimes, when you really care about your audiences, you have to take a chance.

Eh, the summer movie block sounds interesting, at least. I hope it's some good stuff from the 70s and 80s.

It will be nice seeing What's Happening at a time other than 11. Speaking of 11, what's it with putting new shows on so late. You would think they would want to expose Benson more.

Thank you for letting me know ahead of time I wont be watching any of 48 marathon May and June either. Except I like Three Company I already have DVD's so I dont need to watch 48 hour TC on Tvland. They should put something else like "Alice" & Would like to watch Night Court 48 marathon one more time.

Il just watch Cheer and Night Court as alway.

I couldnt watch Happy Days becasue it is not closed captioned for tvland I have to to have closed captioned and it only on in the morning and I have to work.

in on way I kind of hope it gets picked up because the movie from 1997 wasn't that bad, but on the other hand I think they would ruin it. I wish they would just air the shorts since Boomerang dropped them last year and the DVD was pulled weeks before it came out.

Is it just me...or are they NOT airing any 4th season episodes of TC for the marathon? WTF!? Of course, my absolute favorite season of the entire series, and they do not even air it. Yet they air all of the Terri seasons. That's screwed up.

I like June's new morning line-up and while it's sad to see Bewitched/Jeannie go, I like the idea of Good Times/What's Happening at lunch time.

Glad to see Three's Company getting a marathon, this is for all those people out there who complained that Season 8 never got shown as much as the others (I guess it didn't, but that's not too rare for last seasons). Hopefully the show will be back on the line-up sometime in the fall if not before (kind of doubt that with all the new shows coming in and this marathon)

I wish TV Land would do one more month of marathons. I know they aren't going to do a marathon for every show they have as they would all not do well all weekend long (people shouldn't expect most shows that generally air in the mornings or overnights to get a marathon)

If they were to continue with marathons in July, I'd like to see:
- The A-Team (sort of weird they are doing a 48-hour Miami Vice marathon, but yet they air this show at 2pm and Vice at 2am- clearly these both do better than most of the other crimestoppers, but it's hard to tell which one of these two does better)
- Cheers
- Leave it to Beaver

maybe Happy Days and/or I Love Lucy (I think these may be like The Brady Bunch- they aren't the highest scorers on the regular line-up, but may do well in a marathon event)

This special premieres during “The Brady Bunch Weekend Event”, a 48-hour marathon taking place July 22-July 23, from 6 a.m. to 6 p.m. ET/PT. The marathon also includes an encore presentation of the original special, Still Brady..After All These Years.

My First Time (series)

Wednesday, June 28 at 10 p.m. ET/PT

In this six-part series, TV Land will revisit the first major career milestones of some of America’s most celebrated performers. Bolstered by original interviews with each star profiled, every 30-minute episode of My First Time will feature some of the biggest talents in Hollywood and trace their first “big break.” Additionally, each show will contain footage of that first scene that put them in the public eye. In some cases, these will be performances that the stars themselves would probably rather forget.

ACQUSITIONS

Benson (show launch)

Saturday, June 3 (launches with a 48-hour weekend marathon)

TV Land welcomes Benson to the network’s line-up this summer, kicking off with a 48-hour marathon of the series’ most memorable episodes. This spin-off from Soap stars

Robert Guillaume as a butler -- Benson– who is sent by his boss, Jessica Tate to live
with her widowed cousin, a governor. Guillaume received an Emmy for his role as the butler who also guides the governor on all his personal and political decisions. Benson’s regular timeslot will be 11 p.m. Mondays through Fridays.

227 (show launch)
Monday, July 3
227 centers around the residents of apartment building No. 227, located in an African American neighborhood in Washington, DC. Mary Jenkins (Marla Gibbs) and her best friend

Rose (Alaina Reed-Hall) enjoy nothing more than sitting on the stoop of their building sharing life's problems with each other and gossiping about the other tenants in the building, especially Sandra (Jackee) the sassy vixen in the building. Mary is kept busy by her husband, Lester (Hal Williams) and adolescent daughter Brenda (Regina King), who is struggling with growing up with her boyfriend, Calvin (Curtis Baldwin). Calvin's opinionated grandmother, Pearl (Helen Martin) also resides in the building and often joins in the talks between the two friends whether she is asked to or not.

The Jeffersons (show launch)
Saturday, September 2

This Emmy award-winning landmark sitcom is the longest-running African-American sitcom to date. Although the Jefferson characters made several appearances as the Bunkers’ neighbors in All in the Family, it wasn’t until an episode entitled “The Jeffersons Move Up” that they actually received their own show. It was in this episode that George Jefferson (Sherman Hemsley) is blessed with a new-found fortune, enabling him to expand his Queens-based dry cleaners business to include more locations, so he moves his wife, Weezy (Isabel Sanford) and son, Lionel (Mike Evans later replaced by Damon Evans) to a luxurious apartment on Manhattan’s Upper East Side. One week later, The Jeffersons moved to their own series on CBS which aired for ten years. Other friends, family and neighbors include: George’s in-laws and upstairs-neighbors, Tom and Helen Willis (Franklin Cover and Roxie Roker); Jenny Willis-Jefferson (Berlinda Tolbert) -- Lionel’s wife; Harry Bentley (Paul Benedict), the British neighbor across the hall; Florence Johnston (Marla Gibbs), The Jeffersons wise-cracking and unproductive housekeeper; Ralph Hart (Ned Wertimer), the tip-hungry doorman and Mama Jefferson (Zara Cully), George’s doting mother who dislikes Louise.

TV LAND DEBUTS MY FIRST TIME ON WEDNESDAY, JUNE 28 AT 10 P.M. ET/PT

SIX-PART SERIES LOOKS AT THE ROLE THAT CHANGED CELEBRITIES' LIVES

TED DANSON, HENRY WINKLER, JOHN SCHNEIDER, CYBIL SHEPHERD, JIM BELUSHI, KATEY SAGAL, CHERYL LADD, JOHN O'HURLEY AND GLEN CAMPBELL AMONG STARS FEATURED

Santa Monica, CA, May 31, 2006 - TV Land will revisit the first major career milestones of some of America's favorite TV stars with the premiere of My First Time. The six-part series, produced for TV Land by Scott Sternberg Productions, will debut on Wednesday, June 28 in its regularly scheduled timeslot of 10 p.m. ET/PT and will air through August 2. Renown actor, producer and director Henry Winkler (Happy Days, Hollywood Squares) and actress Katey Sagal (Married...with Children, 8 Simple Rules for Dating My Teenage Daughter) are featured in the first episode.

Bolstered by original interviews with each star profiled, every 30-minute episode will trace the first "big break" of some of the biggest and brightest talents in Hollywood. Fellow cast members, producers, agents, directors and others who were part of making that first moment happen will also be interviewed for the series. Additionally, each show will contain rare footage from performances that many fans -- and maybe the stars themselves - forgot existed... and some clips that these performers would probably rather forget. My First Time also gives an intimate look at the stars' lives as they were then, their hopes for that first part and how they feel looking back at that moment in time.

"TV Land is really excited to give our viewers a more personal look at how their favorite stars got the role that changed their lives," explains Sal Maniaci, Senior Vice President, Development and Original Production, TV Land and Nick at Nite. "Viewers will get to hear stories never told before as we continue to create original programming for the network that celebrates some of the most popular stars our viewers know and love."

"My First Break will give audiences a rare insight into the making of a star and will make for compelling television," said Scott Sternberg, CEO of Scott Sternberg Productions. "We're delighted to be partnering with TV Land to bring this exciting original program to air."

Bensen is one of the rare spinoffs (Lou Grant is another) who's style is different from its parent show.

Bensen is a a pure sitcom with most episodes have its plots wrapped up, while Soup was a dramedy, and as most fans of the show knows, every episode ended without most of the plots solved, or not without new plots developing.

I'm glad there doing this (mostly for Benson). I find myself watching shows more when there packed together in a big block of episodes (I don't know why)? So this means that I will be watching Benson & All in the Family's block. To bad both block run on the same nights the Roseanne marathons do on N@N (but I've seen each episode of that show WAY to many times!).

I find it strange they do this, I guess Night Court must really be tanking, which is a shame. The way things were going, they were airing 2 episodes/weekday so they could get thru their run of episodes by the time 227 comes on the air. With it going down to 1 episode a day, it seems like it extends the 2nd run of episodes to the end of July (probably burying the show in the 3am time slot if the marathons do end at the end of June). It'd be nice if they brought back the MyTime Marathons in the fall, but I've got a feeling NC wouldn't be making the cut.

I think this new schedule is insane. All of the shows that are already being aired a few times a day are getting the marathons. The only shows that I really watch on TV Land are Cheers and Night Court. It makes me really mad because I love to watch those two shows around midnight or whatever time they're on before I go to bed. All of the shows I watched in the morning are now on in the afternoon when I'm usually not even home. Now they're changing their whole schedule around, and I honestly don't even feel like watching the channel anymore.

Some of the ideas they have though are fun to watch. I think I'm going to enjoy the wedding week and a few of the specials they're going to air, but other than that I'm not to crazy about it.

Pavan, why are the shows (in the overnight marathons) airing at off times on both networks (TVL & N@N)? When I tuned in at 1:00am:

An episode of Benson (TVL) was ending and an episode of Roseanne (N@N) was ending.

The next episode didn't start on N@N until 1:12am.
The next episode didn't start on TVL until 1:15am.

Why are the air-times off? Are they showing less commercials?

Also to note: My TV on-screen guide doesn't list each episode, it shows a long block that streches from 12am-4am with no episodes titles (just a 4 hour show). Why is this? Do you know?

Thanks!

Wow, NC/Cheers must have been doing poorly, considering that two timeslots are pulled. I'm actually kind of glad to see another decade other than the 50s/60s being limited to morning timeslots. My only complaint....SAME OLD SHOWS in the marathons!!! Sanford and Son...Good Times..All in the Family...They're all good shows...but come on!! Especially Sanford and Son, it's definately played out. I think it should be limited to the marathon and the 5:30PM airing.

No it not Cheer & Night Court are not doing poorly for the time slot it the programming director and their programming crew they have a nasty habit to change their mind every other 2 to 4 week then they shuffle the scheudles around & the viewer cant find it they give up or to get the viewers want for their favorite show on diffrent timeslot. The programming dept just need to leave the schedule alone what they are suppose air . I understand the rating but changing the show around too much, same show marathon & change their mind last mintues this is ridulous (sp?) . They just need to replace new programming director and their crew.

I wish that TBS will buy Hallmark that Hallmark is up for sale & let TBS progamming crew do it it doesnt matter what years they put it as along they just leave it alone til the contract expired. Well that is all I have to say.

judgestone....I love Night Court, but it was only doing average in that slot. It did much better last year when it launched. I'm surprised Night Court lasted almost 11 months around the same slot (11:30p-12:30a). So, you shouldn't be upset, you had the chance to record them. TV Land has access for another few years, so it will return at some point.

Night Court is a show that doesn't seem to fit in certain dayparts, which does limit when you could put it on. It's good to know that TVL will have the show for a few more years, I was wondering how long they had the show, it's good to know that there's a chance it'll return sometime. Wings was buried for quite a while in the 3:30am slot, and it got itself into a daytime slot, maybe the same thing could happen. I just thought it would've been better if they let the show finish its second run of its episodes, which would have happened around July 3. What's Happening! must be on like it's 4th or 5th run, and that's with 3 weekend marathons in less than a year on the air.

Not exactly sure yet, it might be doing well...or they are airing it a lot so they can air all the remaining airplays for the contract.

Thank you Pavan but Il be alright Im sure that N.C will be back they just simply dont have room to put it what I have seen the listing for July plus marathon. I cant watch Cheer without Night Court they do well in evening timeslot for both of them & I enjoy watching both of them. Oh well we just wait see what happen in 3 to 4 week til they change their mind or in september. So Im sorry I wont be able to watch any tvland show that they are airing in July til NC and Cheer return in evening timeslot. That only two show I like to watch on tvland

Il just catch up on other cable networks that I miss. I normaly watch TBS & Lifetime & Oxygen network or Lifetime movies in the evening or I just catch up other cable network that I miss. or catch up on Modern Marvel on History channel that I might learn something new .

Pavanbadal,
Do you know if Cheers and What's Happening!! slipped in the ratings as well OR are they just trying to kind of start something new between 12pm - 2pm? It's cool to see Benson and Miami Vice (as well as The Munsters and Leave it to Beaver come July) get marathons, but it's a bit overkill with the other 3. Seems like Night Court could fit somewhere, but I'm sure it will return to some degree come fall.

I'm pretty sure Leave It to Beaver has been on almost non-stop since it debuted in 1998. Andy Griffith came on board, I think, in 2000, though I'm not sure. But yes, both need a break, IMO.

Seems like since last month, the schedule has changed every week...just wondering, why? I've liked most of the changes (especially 5/22), but I'm surprised that they're changing so much, considering that from September 2005-April 2006, very little changed.

I'm glad Three's Company is coming back to the line-up! I wasn't expecting it until fall. Probably a rather smart move with all the promoting they are doing for this upcoming weekend.

Now if they had have just moved All in The Family to 10:30pm, and move Good Times to 10pm- the primetime line-up would be nearly perfect. I don't dislike Sanford and Son, but I wish they would drop the back to back airings during primetime- I imagine that will happen when The Jeffersons joins the line-up.

The ONLY, and I repeat, ONLY show I REALLY want to see return to primetime is Leave it to Beaver. LHOTP/TAGS/LITB/S&S would be a PERFECT lineup. I'm keeping my fingers crossed.

One more thing....Green Acres is definately staying, right?

It's definitely not going to be the same without episodes #32-#67, but I can NOT wait.

I haven't watched TC in so damn long that it's gonna feel like I'm watching it for the first time all over again.

Hell, under normal circumstances, I would hate the playing-to-death of the whole situation, but this is my TC! Words don't describe how happy I was last night when I saw it for the first time in MONTHS. Literally, MONTHS. Friday nights are going to be the shyt!

Question, though. Are they going to skip over seasons 3 and 4 in the regular airing/Friday marathons? And another question, will the Friday marathons be on the same timeframe as the regular airing?

JT, I posted the upcoming episodes through July 2 on my website's On TV: TV Land section. If you have further questions, let me know. They are jumping around because of the number of airplays left on each episode.

Thanks.

Now that I think about it, TC is definitely NOT being played to death in this situation. It airs once a day with a marathon on Friday nights. Pretty plain if you ask me.
