Dave Chappelle spars with old bosses

DAYTON, Ohio (AP) -- Comedian Dave Chappelle says he may never return to his hit Comedy Central show if the cable network goes through with plans to air new episodes culled from material he filmed before leaving the series.

"I feel like it's kind of a bully move," Chappelle told the Dayton Daily News in a telephone interview for a story Wednesday. "That's just how I feel about it. I don't know if that's the case. But if people don't watch it, then I'd be more than happy."

Last May, Chappelle stunned his fans and the entertainment industry by skipping out on a $50 million contract and leaving "Chappelle's Show" in mid-production.

He spent two weeks in South Africa before returning home to his farm near Yellow Springs, Ohio.

He has since resumed performing live standup.

Chappelle said his possible return to "Chappelle's Show" is still up in the air.

"But I think if they air that stuff, I can't see how I'm going to be able to," he told the Daily News. "That will damage our relationship."

Comedy Central has said in the past it plans to air the material, but wouldn't comment on any current specific plans.

"We are still waiting patiently for Dave to return to work, but we know that our viewers are looking forward to seeing the material he produced for the third season," Comedy Central said in a written statement.

Chappelle was scheduled to do a standup show and attend the premiere of his new movie "Dave Chappelle's Block Party" in the Dayton area Wednesday.

I'm surprised the Network isn't going to sue for Breach of contract. I hope Chappelle's future movies bomb.

I found it incredibly odd on how Dave tried to justify his skipping out- and made everyone else out to be the bad guy- in his signing of the $50 million dollar deal. This was on Inside the Actor's Studio.

I don't know who has seen it, but Chapelle did not come off reasonable or valid in any way.

meh. He's on drugs, what can you say/:lol:

Just kidding.
I love Dave, and totally understand the overwhelming burden it must be to come up with material up to his standards to respect the fans, but really, you just can't walk out mid-season in a contract like that. Even if he comes up with nothing good, and puts out a crappy season, he owes it to Comedy Central to finish the season, as per the contract, and honestly, without them putting out the first two seasons, he wouldn't be as much of a star and have made as many millions, so honestly, he should treat them with a little more respect.

and get off the drugs.

kidding again.
If it wasn't for the drugs, we wouldn't have a funny first and second season.
what?.....yyyeeeaaaagggghhh!....what?.....yyeaaaaahhh!

Dave is probably going to do what he wants to do, which means there will be no new season.

Dlemond i agree with you. LOL@Geekfemme hahahahahahahahahahaha. Dave is a weird dude. There's no way i would've passed up that money that Comedy Central offered him. He goes to Africa to see a psychiatrist? Why did he go way over there to see a psychiatrist when he could've done that in america? LOL. I saw him when he was on Inside The Actors Studio.

In my opinion good riddance!!! I am so sick of Dave "Crybaby" Chappelle. Oh boo hoo they gave me so much money, I can't handle it, I'm so famous, leave me alone.

I am so sick of these people wanting the fame and fortune, and then wanting to be anonymous. Get real you became famous because you a so self centered, and now you want to be left alone. Hey you made the pact with the devil now you have to live with it. If it is so terrible give the money back and go live on your farm in Ohio, believe me someone else will step to the plate.
