Ok heres the thing:
I'm trying out to be my school's mascot (ya' know, the person in the suit that goes to all the games?) and I have to audition on the 17th of this month. Basicly all we have to do is do a made up, crazy dance. However, I've never done anything like this before. I'm really nervouse about it. So i was wondering if anyone who has been a cheerleader has any tips for auditioning. ANY help would be highly apperiated!!1
Also, would it be a good idea to write a letter to one of the sponsors telling them why I should be mascot?

Whatever you do, don't do the Macarena. That would be the deal breaker right there.

Well, I've never been a cheerleader but I did take a dance class in high school. And the only advice I can give is SMILE. No matter what you do, if you sincerely look like you're having fun and enjoying it (and not just being forced to), the audience will really enjoy your performance. Good luck!

You've never done anything like this before? And you're trying out on the 17th? That's pretty risky. I hope you've started practicing now. Do you have an idea of what the dance should look like? I would say practice in the mirror to see how it looks. And I agree, that smiling during the audition is very important. I wouldn't write a letter because that might look like you're sucking up... unless that is customary to do, which I doubt it is.
