In "How Green Was My Valet" during the introductions between the Smarts and the foreign diplomat, Max introduced 99 as 99. Aside from the obvious blunder if trying to act undercover, was 99's first name ever revealed?

NO-Her name was never revealed, but a lot of people get confused with this question. In the episode, "99 looses CONTROL", she says her name is Susan Hilton, but in the end of the episode, she clearly states that it was a cover name. I just thought I'd clear things up! : )

Actually, while under cover in 'How Green was my Valet' 99 is called "Nina" (sounds like the number nine with an ah sound added to it).

It is true that her real name was never revealed...however, I can see where it can get confusing. I've seen "trivia" books that categorically state that 99s real name was Susuan Hilton.

Incidentally, long time Get Smart fans should all be aware that Barbara Feldon won the grand prize on the $64,000 question as a Shakespeare expert. Also, Don Adams couldn't swim...so they had to be very careful when they would show him in the water (e.g. drowning in a phone booth).

A good resource is THE GET SMART HANDBOOK by
Joey Green. He has a section that lists the various aliases
that 99 used and the occasions she used them.
The funny thing is that not EVEN Max knew 99's real name!:)

In the episode where Max and 99 get married, for a few seconds, as they are exchanging vows, it seems as though they are about to reveal her real name.

The Minister asks "Do you, Maxwell, take this woman ......."and so on.

He then turns to 99 and asks: "Do you (just then, "The Admiral", who is laying on the floor, coughs or clears his throat, and you do not hear the name), take this man.....".

While she obviously HAD a name , the only one ever revealed was 99, however, Mel Brooks had original wanted to call her agent 69 ( He knew the censors would never let him get away with it )...alas, that may only happen if they make a GS porno version! :D

They had barbara as a guest on a talk show in the late 1980s I can't for the life of me remember the talk shows name I think it was sally jesse rafael it was 1 of her shows where she brought fromer tv beauties on to see where they are today and I think maureen mcormick (marcia brady) was on it too, and they asked barbara if she ever had a name on the show other than 99 and she said no mell brooks didnt want me to have 1 unless it was a cover thing, I was hoping that she did, as i remember on the ross shaefer show back in the late 80s they had gilligans island reunion and ross asked sherwood shwartz if gilligan had a first name and shwartz said well we decided not to use it but if we did it would have been willy gilligan as the skipper we know was jonas grumby, and I was hoping that theyd do the same with 99.

There was an ep with 99's mother on it. Didn't she refer to her daughter by name, or didn't she at least have a first or last name?

Buck Henry says several times in the DVD collection that Agent 99 was purposely not given a name, so there are no surprises like finding out Gilligan's first name or that the Skipper's name was "Jonas Grumby."

I haven't watched the episode with 99's mom recently, but I think she just calls her "honey" or "darling" or something like that...

99s mother calls her "dear" or "sweety" but that's all.

Like others have said; in one episode she leaves Control and reveal that her name's Susan Hilton; but at the end of the episode she reveals that she didn't really leave Control, and Susan Hilton's not her name. The scene goes something like: Max-"OK, Susan". 99-"Max, that's not my name"!

Actually according to Ms. Feldon, that wasn't really true. But "100" did come up, but "99" is easier to roll off your tongue. lol If I find the article again, I'll post it.

He fell asleep and was snoring.

That's interesting because it looked like he could swim in the ep where (Max) and 99 go on there Honeymoon when they have to swim to shore.

But in "Ship of Spies" (or something like that) it is stated that he didn't pass his CONTROL swimming exam.

Also Ms. Feldon has stated that "the flooding phone booth" was NOT fun to film.

Yes, Ive read that also from Barb, however, Mel Brooks has been quoted as saying that he wanted to call her 69.....so,I guess its a matter of he said/she said!

And Producer Daniel Melnick also confirms the "69" story.......there's a chance that Barbara was simply never told this by the producers, since , back in 1964-5, its not the kind of thing youd likely have TOLD a young woman.
