What does Norton say to the teacher in "Hero" after Ralph introduces him? It was obviously an adlib or a mistake because it got a lot of laughter from the crowd and both Gleason and the teacher looked at him like he was crazy. Anyone got any idea?

Oh yes.....Norton shakes the teacher's hand and says, "Semper Fidelis", the motto for the United States Marine Corp. It means, "always faithful". The reason for the laugh of course, is that in true Ed Norton fashion, it made no sense and had nothing to do with anything at that moment.

I still hold that one of the funniest Norton moments in ANY episode is his "Rx!" salute. (Only "Hello, ball!" drew more laughter from me.)

Remember, Carney stormed the beaches in Normandy in WWII. That's why he had the limp (from being wounded). I don't know if he was in the Army or a Marine. Could that be why he was able to ad lib so quickly with that line?

Yup, Carney was in the Army.
