This morning around 7:30 Red entered into heart and respiratory
failure. Around noon she collapsed while at the vet and stopped
breathing. She was revived but was having increased difficulty
breathing. I made the hard decision to let her go.
She fought a good fight from the time she was diagnosed 2 months ago up
until the end. Red took her last breath at 12:11 pm this afternoon in
my arms.
I would like to think everyone for their support during the last 2 months.
She is in a better place now, playing with Ags, my sister's dog who
died the day prior to Red being dianosed. Again thanks for everything.

Losing pets is so hard. My nieces and nephew lost their beagle to cancer last fall. They miss her.

I'm very sorry, since you had Red for almost sixteen years, I can't imagine how upset you must be considering sixteen years is a very long time to get attached to a dog.
I hope you feel better soon, I'm very sorry :(

I know what you must be going through. A pet is like a member of the family.
Be strong. Remember all the good times you shared.

Thanks for the support guys. I probably should have waited until today to go to that website, but I went last night. I started bawling and had to play it twice to actually read it all. It is a wonderful poem. Later I think it will be alot more special, right now it just hurts.
My other 2 animals have not left my side since we buried Red yesterday. Reagan, my other dog, had not eaten anything since yesterday. I was getting a bit worried and decided to try some of the dry kidney food I was trying to feed Red (Reagan used to think it was treats and eat it all up) that is the only thing she will eat right now. My cat even wanted to eat some. I couldn't help it I started crying again (I've been doing that ALOT). I called and asked my et and they said it wouldn't hurt to let them eat it until it is finished. I don't know if they are associating the food with Red or what.
Anyway, I appreciate all of this support. It was a long hard fight for the past 2 months. She lasted longer then people thought she would. She was playing, jumping, and running just two days ago. She never seemed to be in any pain until everything shut down yesterday.
I'm just glad I was there for her.

I am so sorry for the loss of your beloved dog. I know firsthand how devastating it can be to lose a pet, but I hope time will ease your pain. The memories you have of the time you spent together will certainly last a lifetime...

When I lost my doggy 2 years ago. My other dog Blondie wouldn't eat either. I was so upset. In the 3rd day of losing my beloved pet I decided to get another doggy. It took a month for my new dog to come home. I had to make a decision to get another dog to try to make Blondie come back to life (so to speak). The pain was overwhelming. I buried my dog near my home and Blondie would never go near the grave site. She wouldn't even look at the spot. Now with our new doggy they are both getting along well. It took time though.
