"United We Stand" is an extraordinary dramatic series that gives an inside look at the lives of five extrodinary gay people living their anything but "normal" lives in Boston, Massachusetts in the year 2006.
This series will take an inside look at what it means to be gay in Boston, in current day. Shot in documentary style (sort of like "Once and Again") with characters talking into the camera at some points this series will give you an inside look at everything from homophobia, HIV/AIDs, Gay adoption, Gay Marriage and what gay love is like.

Ruthie Meyer is thirty-nine years old and a career women with the best of them. She is currently vice-principal at the largest high school in Boston and was recently named "Educator Of The Year" by the "Boston Family Values Association". She also has a great home life as she has spent the last twelve years with her loving, wonderful partner Joan Shipman-Meyer who she legally married on the steps of Boston Common one year ago. Well, her life is about to be turned upside down as her and Joan embark on a legal and emotional process they had never anticipated, adopting a child.
Joan Shipman-Meyer, Forty-Four years old is Ruthie's wife of a year and partner of twelve. Joan is a successful Real Estate Agent in Boston's ritzy Back Harbor and is the only female associate at the firm where she has spent the last eight years working. Joan is independant, driven and will never back down from a fight. She has a Real Estate Liscene, but also a Business Degree from Boston's famous Harvard University. She could never imagined the drama that would be caused simply by trying to adopt a child with her wife.
Gordon Newman is in his mid-thirites and is the kind of gay man the scares the hell out of the right-wing ignorants that discriminate against gays every-day. He is highly educated, sane and politically active. He has a degree in Political Tatics from Boston College and has spent the ten years working on Beacon Hill for the most anti-gay state senator, Randall James Stern who is currently attempting to pass several anti-gay bills, including one that would ban gay marriage forever and another that would deny homosexuals infected with HIV and AIDS the right to medical insurance. Gordon has sat around for years and dealt with Sterns anti-gay but can no longer take it and has decided to run against Stern for a seat on the sate senate.
Brad Harmon is Gordon's best friend and roomate, they are not lovers, although Brad always teases Gordon and says "you wish you could have me". At Twenty-Seven Brad is the very definiton of every cliche, he is a drag queen that does impersinations of Hollywood stars at the Diva's Liar a trendy and fashionable gay club in Boston's gay district. Lately Brad has been growing tired of his thankless job as a night-club star and has wondered if going to college, something he never did before could change things. Brad is also currently involved in a forbidden relationship with an older, and i mean much older man; Simon Feldman. Simon is an independantly wealthy, retired newspaper editor who became somewhat notable in the mid-60's when he and a group of gay students from Harvard staged a sit-in at the office of Harvard's president when gay students were being discriminated against and denied housing and meal plans the sit-in while small caught the attention of the media and caused a campus-wide turmoil when the administration refused to change their policies and continued to deny gay students their equal rights.
Noah Stern is Seventeen and a senior in High school. He is the star Quaterback of the football team at the ultra-exclusive "Westchester Academy". His father is none other than Randall James Stern the anti-gay state senator. For the last two years he has been in engeaged to Trish Stranton, the daughter of single Mayor Janis Butler. Well Noah also has a secret, a big one; for the last six months he has been sneaking out at night and going to gay nightclubs where he has been hooking up with different guys in an attempt to figure out once and for all if he is gay. Well after Six months Noah has figured it out and he is indeed 100% gay. Noah now must break this news to his family, his fiancee and his teammates. How will the revelation change his life? and what will his father say?

She has always stood by Gordon, even despite their huge differences in politics. She is a staunch conservative-republican and even worked on the Bush Senior Campaing in the 1980's and also has a degree in Political Tatcis from Boston College, although she graduated a few years before Gordon. Lately Norma has started to think that perhaps she cannot be friends with Gordon anymore, and that maybe it is time for her to get involved with politics again.
Mary-Beth Stern is Fifty-Three and happily married for the last thirty-three years to Randall James Stern, a very repbulican state senator from Boston. Mary-Beth is a dedicated mother and housewife. She has dedicated her life to being a good mother and wife, even if she has often disagreed with her husband's views not only on politics but also on child-rearing. She has been a mostly hands-off mother, at the request, err, demand of her husband. Lately she has wondered if perhaps she hasn't lived fully to her own dreams and she wants to return to the work-force she left when she got married. Her chosen career was Clinical Psychology with a specialty in Child and Adolecent Issues. How will she react to her son coming out of the closet? and her husbands obvious issues with that?

Trish is the classic ice-princess having been handed everything on a silver platter she has never had to work for anything and believes that the world owes her something. She cannot wait to turn Twenty because when she does she will inherit six million dollars from her late-fathers estatee which have been sitting in a trust fund for her since her Judge father was killed in a courtroom brawl in 1984. She is currently a second-year senior at Westchester Academy, she failed out the previous year after partying too much. She is engaged to Noah Stern, the quaterback of the football team, and has no idea that he is gay, and her life is about to come crashing down before her.
Janis Butler, aged fifty-six is the Mayor of Boston and is a very strict Liberal in a sea of conservatives on the current Massachusetts political spectrum. She has in the past stood up for many civil rights issues, including Abortion, Affirmitavie Action and was even an out-spoken defendor of O.J. Simpson during his trial. In the past she has voted for Gay Rights, but as of late has voted against gay rights in a string of vital votes. Where she currently stands in unknown, but the trauma her daughter is about to go through will most certianly have some affect of that. Janis was widowed in 1984 when her husband, a beloved jduge was shot by a criminal that he had just sentenced to life in prison. She has not been in a real relationship since. Her last boyfriend, Raymond was around for barley five-months and that was way back in 1997.

Currently her health is failing, she was diagnossed HIV=Positive in 1989 and was diagnosied with Full-blown AIDS in 1994. She was a politicial activist in the 1960's and a Gay-Rights Advocate in the 1980's and 1990's. She is also a Lesbian. She has often thought ill of her sister-in-laws views on gays, but has always kept quiet since it was that same sister-in-law that was taking care of her and allowing her to live in her home with her daughter. Wanda loves her neice, Trish very much but has often thought her a cold-hearted, spoiled brat who needed a dose of the real world. What will she say when she finds out her future son-in-law is indeed gay?
Trent Leary is in his late-thirties, fast approaching forty and is the latest man to have slept with Noah. At first it was a simple night of fun, that turned into a week of fun and now six months of fun. At "almost forty" Trent is starting to urge for a long-term relationship and thinks that Noah is the man for him. Noah new to being gay isn't sure, but continues to see Trent anyway. Will Trent be able to help Noah through the coming-out process?
