Reasons Why
A sitcom starring Peri Gilpin as a single Chicago morning talk show host, who learns the daughter she gave up for adoption years ago, wants to have her back in her life all of a sudden after learning she's been adopted. Peri Gilpin plays the locally-famous Roz Matthews, who had gotten pregnant when she was in college by an one-night-stand. Roz then gave her baby up for adoption. Roz's now-18 year old birth-daughter, Chelsea (Evan Rachel Wood) learns from her adoptive parents, Keith and Ellen Morrison (Paul Reiser, Rita Wilson). Roz's roommate and best friend, Jane Phelps (Jane Leeves) is a fertility doctor-who believes Roz and Chelsea's newfound relationship is just perfect and was fate. Roz and Chelsea at first make awkward attempts at getting to know each other, yet grow fond of each other. Chelsea then feels torn between her birthmom and her adoptive parents, yet now that she's 18 years old--she decides to move in with Roz (and Jane) which upsets the always-understanding Ellen and Keith.
