Back As Parents

A sitcom starring Steve Martin and Penny Marshall as Tom and Grace Winters, an estranged couple, who has been divorced for the past ten years, who has been recently forced back together again under the same roof. The reason why they are back together in same house is because of their daughter and son-in-law recently has died in plane crash on their way back from second honeymoon. Now with the late couple's children being pasted on to her parents to help raise their grandchildren. Tom and Grace decide to put aside their differences and the fact they are divorced, to work together and raise their two loveable, teenage grandchildren: Christie Hunter, 15 (Amy Bruckner) and Jake Hunter, 14 (Angus T. Jones) . Christie is in the 9th grade and Jake is in the 8th grade.Tom and Grace have a hard time living under same roof after being apart for past ten years, plus the fact they have to raise their grandkids. Tom and Grace recieve help from Grace's younger, widowed sister, Marianne (Bette Midler) who is more than happy to help out with the two kids. Tom and Grace's daughter and son-in-law (Christie and Jake's parents), Lori and Danny (Crystal Bernard,Ted McGinley) are shown and talked about in flashbacks throughout the seasons.

EPISODES

Ep1: Pilot Episode:
Tom and Grace graciously open their home to their now-orphaned grandchildren, Christie and Jake. Christie and Jake are truly devastated at the loss of their beloved parents. Tom and Grace must set their ground rules for themselves now living together after being divorced for past ten years.

Ep2: Gender-Bonding:
Grace takes Christie, along with Grace's sister Marianne, shopping at the mall to get her mind off her parents' deaths, as Tom takes Jake to a baseball game to do the same. Jake witnesses a bottled-up Tom break down crying in the parking garage after the game. Jake consoles Tom, who decides to stay strong for his grandson's sake.

Ep3: School Daze:
Christie and Jake start school. Jake ends up in principal's office on first day, as Christie spends her day at school in girls bathroom stall sobbing as she remincises about her parents. Christie is then befriended by a new girl, Anna (Kay Panabaker)-who transferred to town from Kentucky. Christie learns Anna's parents are divorced and living with her mom (plus her firefighter stepdad died on the job a few months ago).
