For me it has to be "Marked For Death" with Steven Seagal. I never seen so much guns and death, and broken bones.

The Passion. No contest.
Ebert even said it was without a doubt the most violent film he'd ever seen. Those who didn't pick it, I'm sorry, just must not have seen it.

I don't remember it being a contest.
I've actually never seen it but I'm sure it is incredibly violent. Too bad that violence is cool now a days and there will always be an unlimited enough it seems like. A movie will always try to out do other movies.

Yeah, but the Passion wasn't one of those kinds of movies trying to outdo others. They simply wanted to give people a better idea of what Jesus really went through. Jesus was beaten and bloodied, to the point where he was barely recognizeable, and that's what this film portrayed. I do believe that senseless violence in movies is wrong, but if it's true to the story, it would be wrong to not show it.

To me definitely The Passion. For this was the brutal violence that DID HAPPEN to our beloved Lord. This was a movie, but it was based on fact. I have never ever turned my head away from any violent movie; but when I saw the Passion, my head turned during one part when Jesus was being brutally tortured. That movie is thee most violent I HAVE EVER SEEN.
Now, as for a movie that is pure fiction, just a crime movie, horror movie etc. my choice has to be The Godfather for the one scene involving Sonny Corleone. Another one that comes to mind is Death Wish with Charles Bronson. There was not alot of blood, but the scene with his wife being beat up and kicked to death and also his daughter being brutally raped, sodomized and being forced to perform a sex act, to me that was a truly violent movie.

It's an expression. I meant there was no contest in my mind, as no other film I've ever seen came close to what there was in The Passion.

Yes and the other movie by that same director, can't recall the name right now.

Would you be refering to Audition?
Director of the two films is Takashi Miike.
Most disturbing film I've seen to date would have to be Cannibal Holocaust and I've seen plenty.
