Tori Amos's version of "Reign in Blood", I dunno if I'de say it's the best cover song. But she made it more terrifying than Slayer did. For that she get a point for me
I think the best cover song is "The Chauffeur" (yes, that's how I chose my name) by The Deftones, which was origianlly done by Duran Duran. They did an awesome job on that one.

As I said yesterday on a previous thread that I love the song "Walk Away Renee" by the Four Tops. I don't like the original Left Banke's version, but the Four Tops version is much better.

I also thought that Metallica's cover of Queen's "Stone Cold Crazy" was pretty awesome.
Great White did a pretty good job covering Led Zep's "Babe, I'm Gonna Leave You". They played it exactly the same way and didn't try to perform their own arrangement.

Although I still enjoy hearing Dolly Parton's original version of her composition
"I Will Always Love You," I also like (sorry, purists) Whitney Houston's remake.
It's a different style but she makes it work. I also liked Elvis Presley's versions
of The Beatles' songs "Yesterday" and "Something." (But the less said, the
better in regard to the other Beatles songs that Elvis recorded.)

I agree The Sunday's did a very good job with this song.
I also agree with The Four Tops version of Walk Away Renee is great.
I also like Earth Wind and Fire's cover of The Beatles Got to Get You Into My Life, Fiona Apple's version of Across The Universe, Ray Charles' version of Eleanor Rigby, Marvin Gaye's version of Yesterday, Joe Cocker's version of With A Little Help from My Friends.
