Are there any bands/singers you enjoy in the privacy of your own home or in the sanctity of your car? ;) Bands you never thought you'd like for a million years until you actually gave them a chance?
For me it would be the Bee Gees....When I was younger, I found their high-pitched voices weird and not musically appealing at ALL...until about a year or so ago when I watched an episode of That 70's Show that featured the Bee Gees songs as disco music. Then Saturday Night Fever came on t.v. and I was even more hooked-- they have some really awesome songs! So, I'm not sure if it was Eric Forman's geeky imitation of a disco dance or John Travolta's gyrating hips, but I began to like the Bee Gees a lot! I wouldn't call myself a hardcore fan or anything ( I reserve that title for the Beatles ;) ) but they are definately a good group with some very nice, catchy songs....just don't tell anyone I said that ;)
Some of my favorite Bee Gees songs:
"How Deep is Your Love?"
"I Started a Joke"
"Tragedy"
"I Just Want to Be Your Everything"
"Love You Inside Out"
"Nights on Broadway"
"Stayin' Alive"
"More than a Woman"
"Shadow Dancing"
"How Can You Mend a Broken Heart?"
"The Grease theme"
"Emotion"
"Jive Talkin'"
Anyone else?

Does anybody remember the Starland Vocal Band television show? I was only 5 or 6 when it was on, and I could tell even then it was horrid! They drove around in this van I think with swirly-wavy 70's style lettering of the band's name on it.

Karen Carpenter was an extremely talented singer. Some of her material was treacle, but there was a lot of depth to her singing. Alright, that is as serious as I'm gonna get, gang.

I do. It was horrible. Remember, David Letterman was on there. He did some stupid joke stuff, can't remember, he was sooooo bad. It was his first time doing something like that on television. He was a nobody then. Funny, who has the last laugh now??

I love the Carpenters. Karen's voice was as clear as, well, I can't think of anything to compare it to. She sang clearly, softly, it was the sound of an angel. No one can sing like that. I could actually understand the words. Beautiful voice.

The Bee Gees are nothing to be embarrassed about!! They've had a long, successful career with millions of fans.
I'm not embarrassed about it but I've loved Barry Manilow's music since I was a kid. I still have all his albums(yes, albums). Not that I can play them since I don't have a record player!!

I like several of The Carpenters' songs. But my favorite song of theirs didn't
even make the Top 40 (to my surprise): "Sweet, Sweet Smile." I hear it on the
radio sometimes, though. I wonder how high it charted.

I have taken a lotta heat over the years for my devotion to both of the above, and would probably be embarassed to admit I liked the Carpenters, too--even though I agree Karen was blessed with unique talent! (The Bee Gees and Barry Manilow are also, for that matter!) These days I take a lotta crap from my kids about Motown, John Denver, and Josh Groban OMG!
I don't admit liking ABBA, though LOL! (Actually, guess I just did!)

TV Star Collector:
"Sweet Sweet Smile" made it as far as #44 on Billboard's Pop Singles chart in 1978. Surprisingly it cracked the top ten (#8) on the country charts! BTW, it was the Carpenters' only single on the country charts.

Fall Out Boy. Grrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrgh they are so ****ing stupid but I have to admit I like the melody of the chorus to We're Going Down or whatever that song is even though I can hardly understand one word that red-haired guy with the deformed face is saying. And I like one other song by them but I can't think of the name.

Bee Gees are a great group. That song Fanny was real good and Love You Inside Out was the bomb back in 1979.
