Step By Step ran from 1991 to 1998. I think it was 1996 when I first heard about Cody beating his wife.

Im in High school, and i remember when the show was orgianly on. And i remember hearing about Sasha(cody) beatin his wife. I heard he was fired and put in Jail when he beat his wife and hit her in the stomach when she was pregnant.

I also heard about the wife beating thing, but haven't heard about the drugs. I also agree that when he wasn't on the show it wasn't the same, and it's true that Flash and Jean-Luc were pretty pathetic.

I heard about Cody beating his wife in real life too and I think it was awful and he deserved to be fired from his job. I did, however, liked the character of Cody and it did seem just so ironic that the guy who taught Mark self-defense in a good way and encouraged J.T. to be proud of virginity would beat his wife. It was such an awful situation, but I guess you can never judge a person by their appearance on TV. Step by Step was still a great show without Cody, but that Flash character was completely pathetic!

Cody (Sasha Mitchell) left the show to spend time with his kids, and in that time is druggie wife, was going on a rampage and beating her kids, so Sasha had to backhand her to get her away from the kids. If he was doing the beating, then why on earth did they give custody of the kids to him? I would have done the same if I was him. As soon as I heard people dogging on him I knew I had to get the real story, he's not a abuser!!!!!!!!

I saw a TV interview with Sasha Mitchell where HE HIMSELF admitted that he has a problem with anger and basically becomes another person and starts to beat up on his wife....now unless you saw another interview where he said something else, I don't see why he wouldn't want to defend himself or protect his kids if the truth was that his wife was abusing their children...he never mentioned that.

Yah, thats the story I know, she had some drug problems and abuser...it was on Entertainment Tonight...and he didnt even hit her hard

you must've been blind or deaf. he has custody of hte kids and the court verdict said tht she hit the kids and he defended them. then she sold the tabliod false reports on him beating her to get money to buy drugs and stuff...she destroyed HIS career and STEP by Step.

That is completeli true to death. I mean Sasha well enough that he would NOT hurt anyone in his family. Not even his druggi wife. He loves his kids so much. Half of you people are making him look realli bad. He doesn't want his kids to get online and read about all this stuff. Then they would be thinking wrong of their dad. But yet, I don't think THAT part will ever happen. He treats his kids like angels. All 4 of them. Three girls and one boy. They are just adorable.
So please stop saying outragous stuff about him. Because whatever bad things you hear from him. That's onli a magaizine try-ing to make some cash out of it. Even though Sasha has bareli enough monei for him and his kids because of his ex-wife getting all of it.... be glad that HE has them. And I think that's all what he wanted in the first place. Those kids are the apple of his eye.

Hi all,
Whenever anyone asks me if I believe that O.J. Simpson killed Nicole, that Michael Jackson molested children or that Robert Blake killed his wife, I always say, "I don't know -- I wasn't there." Likewise, I was not a witness to any of Sasha Mitchell's so-called "abuse" of his wife. So, I don't know what happened there, either.

Most likely, everyone writing on this message board -- like myself -- is unqualified to say what really happened. We can only form opinions based on what we've read and/or heard about the case.

So, it's really a mystery to us all. Perhaps a big clue to what really happened lies in the fact that Sasha has custody of the kids, while his ex-wife is allowed only a handful of "supervised" visits to them each year.

I have to agree that the show was never quite so good without Cody. I couldn't stand Flash. I thought Jean-Luc was okay, but still not as great as the Code-man. About what Sasha Mitchell did, yeah, it is unbelievable that he did that considering how moral he is on the show. I have recently read the report that he just did that to protect his kids, but I still don't know which story to believe. :confused:

I agree with you about the show after Cody left. Flash was nothing. And, Jean-Luc was practically Balki with a different name and no Cousin Larry.

From what I've read about Sasha Mitchell, I find it difficult to believe that he's the kind of person who would simply physically abuse anyone for no reason.

It is difficult to imagine the Code-man, who loves little dudes and defends women, abusing anyone. But to be fair, you can't really speculate on what an actor or actress might do in real life based on a character he or she plays on television. After all, we've seen Carol Lambert scold her daughter Karen for getting those injections in her lips, and then Suzanne went and made her own self look like a duck!
