Madonna, its an unwritten law that Madonna has to get to number 1
Its a mistake putting Carrie Underwoods album out the same week as Madonnas. She doesn't have much hope of hitting #1.

I'm tempted to say Madonna too. But then when you think of Carrie having the A.I. base and the country music fan base, she might do pretty well. Only because Mariah's cd isn't really new I think she might be the lowest of the three.

Carrie a diva?
I picked Carrie but it'll probably be Madonna. I'm just biased. Although when I went to Target to buy Carrie's CD, Carrie's CD had the least copies left. Madonna still had a lot left.

That's very true about Carrie. She already has a TON of country support. It should be interesting to see the final sales next week.

Considering that the sales of Madonna's last few albums have been down and all the hype that has been surrounding Carrie Underwood, I have to say that Carrie will have the highest debut.

OMG, this thread just reminded me to get Mariah's CD as well as Carrie's! :crybaby:
Anyway, it will be a tough and close call, but I'm going to say Madonna. She always keeps on going on strong with her music. But Carrie will have a really strong debut and Mariah will also probably sell really well, but I think some people are gonna get sick of seeing like five different versions of her latest album.

I so sagree with you on Madonna. She is my fave. As for Mariah, I agree with you on that statement too. I can see this already:
Mimi: The remixes
Mimi: The "lost" tapes
Mimi: The "hits"
Mariah: Greatest Hits #5783
Mariah: Greatest Hits "The Remixes"
Mariah: Best of "The remixes"
  :happyface

It wasn't meant to be taken seriously. Three high-profile female singers released an album on the same day, so I just used the term "diva." Notice the quotes. It's not that big a deal.

First day sales went like this
1. Madonna (325-350k)
2. Carrie Underwood (300-325k)
3. Mariah Carey (140-160k)
So Madonna is beating Carrie only by like 25k, but Carrie is miles ahead of Mariah.

Ill say Carrie. The AI fanbase is usually pretty good at getting those CDs the first week. Plus with country, she has an even broader fanbase now.

I'd say #1 is probably reserved for the business woman. I'm not a Madonna fan, in fact I can't stand her at times especially with all the twistd crap she talks about or her image that keeps flipping from reading books to little kids to showing off her ass on stage.
But anyway, my mom told me the other day not to underestimate her because she witnessed how many times Madonna made big come backs after reaching ultimate low many times and this seems to be one of those come backs because I never seen her this popular in the past 5 years or so when I started watching MTV and getting into music and all that stuff.
Just yesterday she was #1 on TRL and #1 in my local station's countdown, so I think she's doing too well. The only good thing coming out of this for me is the fact America finally are over 12 year old singers and starting to listen to older singers like Gwen Stefani (my favorite), Madonna, and Mariah!

It's Madonna at #1. Carrie Underwood came in a close second. They didn't count Mariah's cd as a new release, so no debut but it jumped up to #4.

Madonna needs to go away now. Well im not really mad about Carrie because #2 is amazing and 314k is an awesome number, but she's stealing Kelly's top spot on TRL pissed:

actually, once you hit a certain age, you will realize just what a feat it is that a 47 year old is holding her own against predominantly acts who were born after she was a star. Actually, it's wonderful that she shows you can be over 35 and still be popular. Even in 1999 when Cher had her big comeback with Believe, she was never rivalling the Britney's or N'Sync's on TRL the way Madonna is holding her own with people like Hilary and Lindsay and the sort who weren't even alive during the Like A Virgin era.
I think it's fantastic that after 23 years, Madonna can hit #1 on TRL. You're probably just too young to really understand just how big of an icon she really is. Madonna's first hit single came out the same year Kelly was born, and yet she's still being able to hit #1 on TRL. I think it's great that Madonna proves that Gwen and Mariah aren't the oldest artists allowed on the show. No matter how popular Kelly and Carrie are right now, they have ways and ways to go before they are quite as iconic as Madonna is.
If Kelly is still around and huge at the age of 47 and fans of a younger newer act who is popular, but still just a blip on the radar compared to her career are trashing her, you'll understand just what I'm saying. Confessions proves that Madonna is still the queen, everyone else are just princesses.
