View Full Version : TV Guide Channel is Terrible

I really can't stand this channel. Remember when it was the Preview Channel before TV Guide bought them out? That is when it was good. The schedules took up a lot more of the screen, there weren't stupid documentaries type stuff too. I have to mute the channel just to look up whats on next. If my computer is on I will certainly look it up at Yahoo TV but if its not on its torture. I don't get how it can be so bad. Why can't it be just Paid Programing in a very little screen at the top with the listings being the most important aspect. Knowing TV Guide, it will get rid of the listing like the did with the magazine.

TV Guide as a whole is crap now. The channel is nothing but a bunch of silly fluff, and their new "magazine" format of their TV Guide is just...Awful. It's pitiful.

I have a question. Is there a difference between Tivo and a DVDR?

You just now noticed? :lol: I think TV Guide brought out Prevue (that's what I remember them calling the Preview Channel) in about 2000 or so. It was alright at first, they had three grids and stopped it every three rows. Then they went downhill when they no longer stopped the grids. :mad:

I miss Prevue. :(

I noticed it changed when it first happened. I know it was bought out a while ago. I am just commenting about how it was. I know its not Prevue anymore or for the longest time.

TIVO is a brand name, and includes their tv listing service, a DVR is the generic term for what TIVO is - a Digital Video Recorder that saves everything onto an internal hard disk drive, and a DVD-R (or DVD Recorder) is a similar device that lets you record programs onto blank DVD-R disks (or DVD+R or DVD+/-RW disks)

TV Guide Channel is fine to me.....I also have the tv guide (book) thing too!

I miss the Preview channel... i also miss how they use to pause when a description for a movie came up, then slowly scroll through TV shows. I can't read the movie description now.

Yeah... but here's my question: Who even uses TV Guide Channel now? :lol:

The only bright spot in the new magazine format is the spoilers in front. :p The listings SUCK.

With a satellite dish, having that channel is pointless...which is why I'm confused as to why we do.

I don't even turn it on anymore. Comcast already got the listings for all the channels on the tv so why use it?

Since I have digital cable I just use the interactive program guide that is 100 times better than the TV Guide Channel.
