Cincinnati radio station WVMX "Mix" 94.1 recently started playing Christmas music, which I expect to last for the next month and a half. 'Tis the season! Have any others?

I was in Charlotte, NC a couple years ago on Nov.1st and one of the stations had already started playing Christmas music. None of our stations in the Orlando area have started yet, but I can't wait until they do because I love Christmas music!! They'll probably start the day after Thanksgiving like alot of others. When I travel all over the country, I love being able to pick up different stations playing Christmas music.

I noticed today that 102.9 in Charlotte, N.C., was already playing Christmas
music. I'm not sure when they started, though. It doesn't bother me; it helps
to get me in the mood. I think, though, they should at least wait until the day
after Thanksgiving Day. But that's just my opinion.

100.3 WNIC is already playing Christmas music here. Started the day after Halloween. I'm one of the people who doesnt wanna listen to Christmas tunes until after Thanksgiving, so its not really a good thing in my opinion.

Stations in Orlando stil haven't started their Christmas music but one of our stations did do a "Jingle Block" today.
I just went through Charlotte last Wed. and picked up 102.9. Then I was in Columbus, OH, got another Christmas station, then I was near Buffalo, NY, got another station. Then heading south got a station in Richmond, VA, Charleston, SC, and Savannah, GA. The whole idea of the Christmas season starting so early bothers me but not the Christmas music. It puts me in a better mood.

I guess I'll resurrect this thread. Today at 11:30 on WLQT "Lite" 99.9 I heard "Christmas in Dixie" by Alabama as a teaser since Christmas songs are right now played sporadically, like once every three hours. On Thursday they go "all Christmas all the time."

 It spoilts the spirit of it, i always like to dust my own christmas albums out and enjoy them when its closer by, instead of radio killing the mood playing them over and over again!

Christmas music before Thanksgiving? IT'S TOO EARLY!!! :mad:Exactly!! Just right after Halloween and before Thanksgiving is WRONG.
I guess it just means that people play it to death after that because it's a commercial seller, something to promote sales and stimulate revenue.
 Commercialization of Christ, anybody?
And what I really HATE about hearing Christmas songs during this time is that they play those SICKENINGLY corny "smooooooth jazz" :cow: versions of Christmas carols and hymns. That and something completely incongruous with it like bluegrass Christmas songs. Just doesn't fit. I guess this disco/r & b takes on Christmas is all for people who enjoy boogieing before the Manger. ohno:

Oh God yes! You are so right. I can't stand those versions. PLAY THE ORIGINAL VERSIONS OR PLAY NOTHING AT ALL!!!!!   I love the Peanuts/Charlie Brown Christmas music, The Carpenters, The Harry Simeon (original) version of "The Little Drummer Boy", John Lennon's "War is Over (Happy Christmas)"...all the classics.

WLQT "Lite" 99.9 is the first to play wall-to-wall Christmas music for the Dayton area, having started Friday, November 14. That's fine even if it temporarily removes the newly installed retro 1970s AT40 with Casey Kasem and "The '70s" with Steve Goddard every Sunday morning.

Our local station (Mix 92.9) normally starts playing Christmas music a week before Thanksgiving, which i think is way to early.

I know of at least two radio stations from Boston (Oldies 103.3 and WROR 105.7) that went all-Christmas right after Halloween. I love Christmas music, but I don't want to hear it until they day after Thanksgiving. Thankfully, the country station I listen to (Country 102.5 WKLB) respects its listeners enough to uhold off until after Thanksgiving to start playing it. Even then, they don't play it 24/7 until Christmas Eve.

I still don't mind the early airings of Christmas music. My big beef is that the radio stations only have a limited Christmas music reportaire(sp?), so eventually they start playing the same crap over and over and over again. I'm telling ya, the past few years, I've really started to hate "Winter Wonderland", "Let It Snow, Let It Snow, Let It Snow", and "Silver Bells", because our local stations play every version in existence of those 3 songs!
As many Christmas songs as there are out there, and as many Christmas CDs there are, to play off of, mix it up a bit!!
One of our stations called 98.9 WMMO, they only do 36 hours of Christmas starting Christmas Eve, and they play better music in those 36 hrs, than the other stations do in 2 months!!
